2006 Volkswagen Passat consumer reviews

My passat is 17 years old with 128000 on it, and honestly not much in the way of trouble, some expensive repairs but overall it's been good to me. The electrical is starting to go in certain spots, and the seats are starting to crack, the front passenger seat actually cracked at 85000 miles. It's expensive to fix but it's a German car so that's expected. My end result is this car is a good solid car, but when things start to fall apart it all happens at the same time.

I drove this car everyday to work and back for several years. Very reliable and rarely went to the shop except for an oil change.

Aside from the boosting and blinkers this is the best car I’ve ever owned and by far the coolest super comfortable and I absolutely love it I don’t want to sell but I need to so make an offer!

Very solid, high perform, reliable car with many new parts. It is dependable n gives good mileage on a tank of gas. One of the most dependable cars I have had.

This is really an excellent car with stylish sexy exterior and interior. It has a powerful engine and smooth drive. Feel safe while driving it.

Solid stopping, great acceleration, very good MPG, ESP & handling, and advanced safety where reasons our family chose the VW Passat. Everyone in our family has really enjoyed driving it. This 12 year old car that we've had for the past 10 years has been, like most cars a bitter /sweet experience; how much bitter and how much was sweet? Here is what it is and has been over the years, some body rust because I believe the previous owner had some paint work done improperly. So, aside from the premium gas, tires, brakes, battery, synthetic oil changes, timing belt, and the water pump maintenance; in the past 10 years these other issues transpired, 5 Headlight bulbs, 2 door lock actuators, one set of plugs and two ignition coils replaced, Ground wire cable replaced to chaise for proper starter operation, air bag recall, airbag drivers seat, engine cylinder carbon tending to build up as it does on other Direct injection motors. The FSI engine needs to be pushed on the expressway occasionally to keep carbon from building up and run happier. Well that's it, the Motor, transmission, suspension, computers everything else is original and working. 12 years old with near 135k on it. Guess that's pretty Okay. Other considerations: premium gas and VW has made this car hard to work on and some replacement parts overly expensive. I would also like to note that it seemed like after the 10 year birthday of the car some VW dealers didn't service the car very well unless you would do all the recommended maintenance; often had to have simple work redone. Food for thought, maybe the old cars get worked on by their inexperience or only one star mechanics either way it hurts the customer and the brand.

I have owned this car for 10 years and have never had any major problems with the engine or major parts. However, the electrical system continues to have issues such as the car sometimes will not lock. I will take this back in to the VW service again. If the key fob fails, the car has to be towed to a VW center to re-program. The interior is falling apart, including the headliner, the seats and anything else attached by glue. So it is a good car except for the interior.

lots of room and very smooth drive, a very sleek style with good upholding. durable headlights, quick and easy to fix. i would recommend this car to someone in need of a reliable car that will last

This is my first car as a teen and I love it, for a first car it has great features and not to mention it came with a turbo which is alot more fun to drive than a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. It also gave comfort with heated seats and leather seats!
