Our Passat Exceeds Expectations

When we got our 2017 Passat SE with the lighting package in December, 2016, we believed we were getting a good family sedan whose turbocharged 4 cylinder power plant would be adequate and whose handling would be average. Although quite handsome in jet black and tasteful chrome accents, and LED headlights and tail lights, and roomy, the trade mags and web sites downplayed the car's performance. OK, it is not a Ferrari, or even an Audi, but the car has plenty of zip and handles nimbly and rides solidly on its 17inch tires. It's safety rating and air bag coverage are top notch. It's interior is spacious and tasteful. Even without the optional tech package you get iPhone and Android phone compatibility and satellite radio, and apps that work with the car's systems. We looked at the Camry and it seemed dated in its handling. The Sonata looked rather cheesey both inside and out. The Optima's styling seemed garish. The only vehicle we considered as a good option was the Honda Accord, even though its mid trim models lacked some features, but the dealer would not work with us on price, so the VW won out. We are pretty pleased thus far. We've had our 2017 Passat SE for only for a little over two months, so we cannot reasonably comment about reliability except to report that there were no quality control defects at all in our Passat when we received the car. Fit and finish were perfect. Our dealer, Savannah VW, has been terrific. Altogether, we highly recommend the 2017 VW Passat SE.

R line Passat 2017

It is a great car, a good alternative for base Audi. Great safety features and great interior. Good value for the price. Test drive it and you will feel the quality and style.

Nice car but miss the torque of my diesel

Traded in my diesel Passat and stepped up to the SEL Passat. The car is much quieter and the ride is smoother. All the safety features are nice, but insurance companies don't give you discounts. The 1.8 turbo is nice but I would prefer a little more torque like the diesel.

What a follow up to the TDI

The V6 smokes! A very nice wolf in sheep's clothing. The SEL Premium has all the bells and whistles you might want (and some you don't) in a new car today. Handling is solid, brakes are good, and the engine... Torque and HP to spare in every situation.

2017 Passat R-Line

Love this car. Smooth ride with 4 wheel independant suspension. Brake assist and lane departure as safety features. 27.5mpg average. 19 inch wheels on the r-line. Great tech package to use google on your inhouse monitor.

Completely Underrated!!

I bought a Passat R-Line and this car is absolutely amazing for the price! A lot of reviews do not give this car the credit it deserves. People say it's a boring car but have never driven it. It's so refined and elegant. This car is for people who want an expensive European car but do not want to pay the price for it. But this car truly drives like a European car and I absolutely love it. The turbo kicks in so early. Everyday driving is a joy in this car. The technology is up to par. The speaker system in this car is pretty nice. The space in the car is really surprising. I owned a 2015 Chrysler 200S before this car and it was bigger in every dimension BUT did not have the space and comfort of this car. If you are looking for a midsized sedan, you must check this car out!
