This car is comfortable, has all of the bells and whistles that you need and some that I didn't even know I wanted. It's tight, quiet and fun to drive, especially since we are currently averaging 108 mpg.

Auto Sales Express Review
Tough analysis... but ALL true.
by Steven Williams from Lynn, MA

Well... in all honesty, I'm not the easiest guy to sell a car to because I used to be in the car business and I'm numb to the used car game AND all the tricks. My wife found a VW Touareg (SUV) that had been advertised on Craig's List being sold by Auto Sales Express. Even though I HATED the thought of buying a car from a retail dealer, I read the other Google Reviews and had to admit I was pretty impressed. Skeptical... but impressed! We live in Swampscott so it was a lonnnnnng drive to Whitman but off we went. I have to admit, it was partially to shut her up about it. (i know, sad but true. Lol). We got to their dealership and the lot was packed with high end cars. They definitely had an impressive inventory of cars. I was all set to meet Eugene when Alex introduced himself and said Eugene was taking a day off to spend with his family. Even though I had mentally prepared to meet and negotiate with Eugene, Alex was obviously smart, knew what he was talking about. To be honest, the car business is a time consuming business and I was glad Eugene was spending the day with his wife and family. My wife was even more impressed than me. She pointed out how clean the cars were and how much she liked that Alex was low key. I had to agree but still didn't expect we would actually purchase a car from them. She wanted the Touareg but I convinced her to look at and drive an X3. "I HATE BMW's" .... was her response but I convinced her to JUST drive it before she decided. Wellllll... even though she ONLY did it to please me, she drove it and loved it... and now SHE WANTED IT. Ugh!! The X3 was a 2006 and had 105,000 (!!!!!!!!!) miles on it.... and this went against EVERYTHING I would normally do. Yes, the car was very clean and seemed to be in excellent condition for having that many miles on it but now I was stuck. I was going to have to buy this car. I tried to negotiate and yes, they did come down a little on the price... but not nearly as much as i wanted or had hoped. i had read in Milena Mladenova's Google Review that they didn't negotiate much... and it was true. I even told them I was paying CASH which didn't really change the price much. In hindsight, I thought the price was fair but it wasn't the cheap deal i had been hoping for. But here is where a 'good' deal turned into a MUCH greater deal. AFTER YOU PAY THE MONEY you see the TRUE character of someone. We had a 30 day warranty but I'm used to the "sorry that's not covered" story but I can proudly say that did NOT happen with these guys. To be perfectly honest, they even fixed a few things that were specifically NOT on the list of items covered... and I didn't have to 'convince them' or talk them into it. They just cheerfully did it. All in all, I believe these guys to be of the very highest integrity. I would send my mother or sister to them WITHOUT feeling the need to be with them for fear of them being taken advantage of. Auto Sales Express in Whitman is a special place and owned by a very unique man with very high integrity. Eugene, Alex and the rest of the staff are pretty unusual and I give this place my highest recommendation. On a side note... for almost 20 years I've been a business consultant by profession so beeeeeeeeelieve me, i wouldn't give this kind of review unless it was true. I get paid to notice details and from what I can see, this is the right place to purchase a car. I couldn't have been more pleased with our transaction... and those are words I don't say very often. This place, Eugene, Alex and the rest of the staff are special.... and i'm certain... VERY CERTAIN... you will agree.

The most sedan for the money.

First, this car is a huge value. MSRP is $34,290 and after dealer discount and federal and state incentives it cost me $20,625. It is a large car with lots of trunk space, fold down rear seats, comfortable seating for 5. I am getting an equivalent of 70 mpg. This includes several 400 plus mile trips as well as city driving. It is extremely quiet inside and the features and comfort remind me of my old Lexus LS400, as amazing as that might sound.

Easy easy EASY way to buy a car!
by janders5511 from DealerRater.com

My old car was my third minivan in 15 years. Now that my kids are older and leaving for college, I wanted something that could carry 6 or 7 passengers but was ... well... NOT a minivan. I did some research on late model used three-row SUVs, and found the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. (My favorite of my three vans was a 2005 Nissan Quest, so choosing Nissan was easy for me.) Before I started browsing for cars, I applied for credit through Carvana, and was approved. Next, I entered in all of the information about the van I was trading for the Pathfinder. (Beware -- the trade-in amount is only good for 7 days, and it can change wildly in that time!) I was pleased with the trade amount, and it was great that I could shop for my new car and see my down payment and monthly payment for every car I viewed! My specifications were pretty clear -- AWD, less than 10,000 miles, and never a rental car. I found my dream car a few days later, and started the purchase process. It was quite smooth and the directions were very clear about what documents need to be uploaded. When I went to click on "finalize purchase" (or something like that), a red flag popped up...my trade-in value expired WHILE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING OUT! I got on chat with Carvana staff right away, and they were able to return the trade in value to NEARLY what it was before the expiration. This is something that needs to be addressed by Carvana -- once a customer is to a certain point in the process, those numbers need to be frozen. So we set a delivery time, and the Carvana rep was pretty much on time considering he was traveling 70 miles or so from the Chicago office. Everything was smooth -- signed a couple more papers, took my Pathfinder for a spin, Eric inspected my trade, and I left within 30 minutes with my new car. I would also like to add that I drove directly to my mechanic, so he could inspect the car and make sure I wasn't buying something with hidden damage. Mechanic said to me, "This car is perfect, like new." Just what I wanted to hear. Thanks Carvana! I am telling everyone I know about you guys. Good to work with you! Janet - 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

I couldn’t be happier!

A new car is always anxiety provoking. More so with each review you read. Everyone has an opinion. I decided on the Clarity PHEV after research and, most importantly, driving it. Any negatives I read were highly OVERSTATED, and most of the positives were understated. For example: “Handling is mediocre.” Bull! It’s not a sports car. So what? It handles well enough. Negatives I read: Piddly criticisms like “it doesn’t have lumbar support or a volume knob.” If this is a major problem you should throw out the baby with the bathwater and buy a back roll and figure out how to use your left thumb on the steering wheel volume control. Who buys a car based on a volume knob? The styling is “different.” “There’s a partial covering on the rear wheel!” How petty. What a dumb reason not to buy a car. Bottom line. This car is comfortable, reliable, a GREAT VALUE, and extremely enjoyable. It makes me excited unlike any other car in that it is a practical look at the future of getting us off gasoline with the confidence of range. Why cry that the wiper fluid reservoir is small when you get unbelievable versatility in a LARGE, extremely comfortable, and amazingly fuel efficient purchase? The criticisms are so petty, really. I am 10/10 pleased. There is no “perfect” car. For ME, this car is far more than I could have hoped for at the price, especially considering the $7,500 federal tax credit. The Prius prime can’t touch the range and luxury of this car. The Leaf is a cramped box with no range compared to the Clarity. The Tesla is so overpriced and who wants to sit at a recharging station anyway? This car will be a joy to own even 10 yrs from now. By then I hope other manufacturers will focus on the winning combination this car has: VERSATILITY, LUXURY, COMFORT, RELIABILITY, ECONOMY AND JOY. It isn’t the “Best” at anything. But it’s the best combination of everything!!!! Drive it and see! Until a BEV can go 600 miles and recharge in 20 minutes and sell for 25-30 grand with comfort and reliability, the Clarity is the best choice for now for the money!!!

Taking the Stress and Pain out of Car Shopping
by Captain Nemo from DealerRater.com
December 3, 2018
5 5 5 5 5 4.2 (4745 reviews)
Buying a car is stressful even if you have a lot of experience. Historically, it has been time consuming, emotionally taxing and most of us go into a dealership with far less knowledge than we ought for a purchase of the magnitude of a car. Salespeople have (understandable) pressures to move inventory and even the most fair-minded is looking to get the highest price they can get away with. It is harrowing at best. With my experience with Carvana, all of these stresses were eliminated. I browsed inventory as widely or narrowly as I wanted, for as long as I needed. I could dictate pricing ranges that were suitable for me. The car I received was *exactly* the car I examined online, right down to some inconsequential bumper scuffs. Beyond this, and *absolutely unlike* any other online business, I could speak to a *real human being* within a few minutes of calling (I had six or seven conversations with Carvana agents over the 3 1/2 weeks from car selection to car receipt). They either had the answers at hand, or researched them and replied promptly with a follow up call. Delivery coordination and drop off (and test drive) were *painless no pressure* experiences???all preparatory contract paperwork was prepared in advance leaving only title transfer stuff to take care of. It took 45 minutes, tops. (I transacted entirely in cash, so I cannot speak to the process when there is financing.) Honestly, the biggest delay was on *my* end getting the insurance transferred (having to wait on hold with my insurance company for 15 minutes). The car was 100% was described???absolutely no surprises. The images on the web site for my car were not stock images. What I saw was what I got. Naturally, it was clean, filled up with a full tank, with new tires and the whole nine yards. Even got a ???free??? Carvana reusable coffee cup and key chain. Nice touch. The part that I found the most extraordinary was the 7-day money-back guarantee, which pretty much covers a change of mind unless you get into an accident or drive it a ton (over 400 miles, and even then, they???ll take it back after a modest per-mile-over-400 charge). All in all, I was dreading buying a car (and selling my used one) and Carvana made it pleasurable. I am absolutely recommending them to all of my friends and coworkers and I hope (as a relatively new company) they keep up the excellent work.

The best plug in mid-sized sedan less than $30k.
by Big Hope from Detroit, MI
January 25, 2019

I've owned the base model Clarity for 4 months and 5k miles now and I'm very pleased with how smooth, efficient and smart the vehicle is thus far. I bought the car significantly under MSRP even before the 7,500 Federal and 1,000 state tax credits and this made it a no-brainer to purchase. After I claim my credits, it will end up being slightly cheaper than a new Prius Prime plug-in with mid-level trim after its tax rebate. The Clarity is twice the car that the Prius prime is. The Clarity is pretty much a full-sized luxury sedan with a lot of class and comfort, but missing some odd-ends like no power seats in the base model. The seats are pleasure to sit in though for the 2 hours of driving that I do per day. I've gotten 51 miles on a full charge, around town. If it's very cold or I'm driving too fast, I think 40 miles is the least I've gotten. The gas hybrid motor gives me between 41mpg and 45 mpg, even if the electric battery has no charge. There can be a drone from the engine when it's cold out or when the gas engine is charging the battery, which is normal I've been assured. With snow tires it gets the same mileage. I find that I only hit my brakes 1/4 of the time as I use the regenerative braking paddles on the steering wheel to slow down. The apple play package works ok but it is a little clunky, especially without physical controls next to the touch screen.

great place to buy a car

Exactly one month ago, I was in the market for a Mercedes Benz CLA 250 and they had one. It was the right price, the right color, the right mileage. I didn't call before hand to set up an appointment, but that didn't make a difference. I was made immediately comfortable by Marvin. He introduced himself and put me at ease. My sales expert, Dave, was frigging awesome. He knew so much about the car. When I wasn't sure if I wanted it or not (at first I was underwhelmed), he had me test drive a BMW 320i for a comparison. I still wasn't convinced, so Marvin suggested I take it home overnight. Everyone agreed and of course, I fell in love with it. I traded in a car and they gave me a fair market value. I did come with my own financing so it made the transaction totally smooth. 2 weeks after I had the car, Dave called me to see if I was still in love and to check on me. He also reminded me that I can bring it there for servicing. This was the easiest and smoothest process I have ever had when buying a car. Everyone here is wonderful and I will always come here. Thank you everyone at Dave Sinclair Lincoln St. Peters.

The quality of this car is impressive. Honda put a lot of thought in design and function. I have owned several new cars from different brands in the past and consider the Honda a good value for the money. The plug in hybrid developed by Honda is light years away from the other manufacturers. In the four weeks we have owned the car, we have not used a drop of gasoline. All our travel is within the 50 mile range of where we live. I can't wait to take a long trip to see the mpg from the combination of electric and gas engine.

We came in to look at a vehicle and test drove a couple Lincoln MKZs, we found the one that we liked and with no pressure sat down with the sales person and talked about pricing and different options for financing and within 40 minutes we were finished and driving home a new car. The experience we had at this dealership was excellent and the staff is very friendly knowledgeable and easy-going to work with.

IPurchase of Toyota Corolla LE 2017
by Carol Bishop from DealerRater.com
November 6, 2018
5 5 5 5 5 4.8 (1890 reviews)
I was still driving a Toyota Corolla VE (1999 model) in July 2017. The car had less than 72,000 miles on the odometer (really!) But it was getting older and needing more expensive repairs as the years have passed. Last week, I took my old car in for a regular inspection and learned that the transmission needed to be replaced and that the water pump was empty (and there were no overt signs of this to signal me). Anyway, to replace the transmission and water pump would have cost over $3,300. I left the car in the service dept. but after driving home and talking to a couple of my neighbors, who are both drivers, I decided the Corolla VE and I needed to go our separate ways. I contacted the service dept., and to their knowledge, no work had yet been done on the old car. Then I called the sales dept. Both calls were made between 7:50 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. Patrick listened patiently to my story, and I asked him whether it was worth putting so much money into this older car because even though it had low mileage, I was doing a lot of city driving, which is hard on the engine of any car. Therefore, the engine could go at any time. The age of a vehicle and how it is driven have to be taken into account. Patrick said that he would be willing to meet with me at Toyota Sales, even though it was already 8:20 p.m. when our phone conversation ended. I drove there. He showed me a couple of low-mileage cars on the lot which were leased vehicles and still in good condition. However, Toyota had a 72-month 0% APR on new vehicles going on through July 31.. And it was July 31. So I asked him to calculate if there would be a significant difference in my month payments if I were to buy a new 2017 Corolla LE versus a 2015 Corolla LE (which would include interest payment every month) after making a down payment of several thousand dollars. He said that it would not, and showed me the math. He showed me the 2017 Toyota Corolla and it was awesome. So I decided to purchase it. I have never driven a car with such good safety features and physical comfort. This is how much the Corolla has been refined over the past 18 years. I commend the assistance of Patrick Albien, Pam Borman and Jessie in taking the time to go through all the paperwork and make sure everything was in order. They were there until 11 p.m. to assist me before the end of 7/31, ensuring the July special would go into effect. This is true professionalism, accompanied by good humor. Thank you.

I live 30 miles from work and after 1250 miles I have yet to put gas in the car (the gauge shows the gas tank 3/4 full). I plug into a 120v outlet when I get home and plug into a Chargepoint station at my place of work. I love the adaptive cruise control...relieves driving stress. When i take it on a long drive I will obviously have to get gas but for now I'm lean and green.

2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid Touring Review
Best Honda I have owned - no fuel and drives dream

When I started looking for a PHEV, I tried out the BMW X5e, 530e, Audi eTron A3, Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevy Volt, and Toyota Prius Prime. What set this Honda apart was the huge cabin interior, quiet ride, 47 miles per charge, and a responsive ride. Then when I found out that the $34K Clarity is more affordable than any other brand with: $7600 lease incentive + $500 employee discount + dealer discount + $1500 state + $1000 local utility rebate = $20K car. Super affordable and super low payments with zero gasoline so far. The original tank of fuel from the dealer is still full! Love having to not fill up every week - saving me $200 in gasoline costs. Electricity has only gone up $20 per month which is spectacular! The factory supplied level 1 charger is perfect as I leave the car overnight in the garage to get a full charge. Southern California is best for this type of vehicle because the range is not diminished by low temps. I usually get 45-53 miles per charge daily. Definitely a high tech car to have and makes my commute fun with the regenerative shift paddles to save on break wear! With the low residual value (RV), this lease might end up as a keeper at the end of 3 years. The buyout price is $14K so if the car does not give me issues, I will keep her!

Very reliable, great hybrid, fun to drive.

I think this hybrid is a winner compared to Prius and other cars I have owned or driven. Interior is very nice, ride is comfortable. I do have some problems with learning the 'saving favorite stations on the radio', but otherwise user friendly. On home charger 240V, takes about 2.5 hours . Short trips around town..no gas use at all. Exterior styling is great also with a sedan/sporty look. Honda is rated as having the best engine in the world and a leader in inovation.

The Smartest and most Luxurious Car I've owned

Stupid... it's just stupid how cool this car is. 40-50 miles of EV cruising before you need to switch to hybrid mode. Even if you just run Hybrid, you're still getting 80-90 MPG's. That's stupefying and Pious, er um, Prius smashing. I can even schedule the Clarity to warm up before we drive in the morning, or connect via the app and start a warm up whenever. I guess, if I had to, I could even use the remote to do that. :) The interior design is well thought out and easy to use. I know many people complain about the knoblessness (I may have invented that word) of the radio, but seriously, does your smartphone have a knob? Plenty of power ports and places to hide carry ons AND a phone pocket in the back seat. The woodgrain trims are convincing. I still don't know if it's wood or plastic. Features like brake hold, adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and slow speed follow are incredible. Let's talk about those paddles on the steering wheel. Many reviewers dislike them because, honestly, I don't think the understand their purpose. If used correctly, you can bring the car to near stop and continue on without touching the brake peddle. Each tap of the left paddle increases your generator induced slowing effect, and if you misjudge you can squeeze the right paddle to let off the regen braking to coast a little farther. Whenever you can stop without using the physical brakes, you're increasing your range and MPG's. Ok, I'm winded. Get a Clarity, it is Accord money but with so much more.

Solid Service - except front license plate

All was good! Solid communication and timing for oil change. Vehicle was also returned w a clean exterior. Only complaint is how the front license plate on the vehicle was returned. We have elongated screws holding the front plate in AND seems that they were tampered with (either pulled/bend/or tried to be removed). The front plate was bend and the screws were lose. Unfortunate...considering it's a novelty plate that is important to us. I'm 100% confident going in that the front plate was in working and perfect condition. I checked myself.

Best Plug-in hybrid out there

Agree with all the good reviews. A few comments: on the uphills/sllopes, the battery loses charge very fast and down hills a lot more electric only mileage than 47. I drive it >60 miles a day. When the gas engine kicks, gets noisy. Infotainment is not user friendly esp. with selecting what mode to use and navigate between apps. There is NO AUXILIARY input so you can not plug in any CD player into the car. This is a big deal for me as I want to be able to listen to some CDs that I can not transfer to other digital formats. The big hump in front of the driver's seat is very annoying and uncomfortable. This is probably due to the big size battery. Also the middle back row floor hump which makes the middle back row person uncomfortable. I wish the trunk was liftback instead of old school sedan. This way the space in the trunk would have been much more useful. Overall the best plug in car in the market now. Very quiet and soft on all electric mode. Drove >1700 miles on about 6 gallons and the rest was electric.
