Finally, a pleasant car buying experience

I was most pleasantly surprised with the quality of service, and personal touch, and the overall experience during a recent purchase of a pre-owned vehicle at Jim Shorkey. Our consultant, Tom Haskins, was professional and helpful, while maintaining a very pragmatic approach. We knew that we had a budget amount in place (based on a monthly payment) and a credit score that was less-than exceptional - or even great. It was good. Tom took the time to investigate which vehicles were within our price range, and worked to get us financing that was acceptable. There was the "pressure" to purchase additional warranty coverage - however, I declined. If I would provide one less-than-positive critique, it was the comfort level and time spent while waiting for the paperwork to be produced and various vehicle-specific delays. Most of our time was spent (approximately 3 of the 4 hours or so) on rather uncomfortable chairs - with just my wife and myself. There was very little interaction with others at the dealership - or more hospitable accommodations. All in all, great experience. It was unfortunate that a vehicle that was posted on-line that was of interest was not available (though the effort to locate it was appreciated) however, we are most satisfied with the vehicle that we purchased. The trade-in was low (in my opinion) but acceptable. Only time will tell if the vehicle purchased passed CarFax...that was never offered.
