My old car was my third minivan in 15 years. Now that my kids are older and leaving for college, I wanted something that could carry 6 or 7 passengers but was ... well... NOT a minivan. I did some research on late model used three-row SUVs, and found the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. (My favorite of my three vans was a 2005 Nissan Quest, so choosing Nissan was easy for me.) Before I started browsing for cars, I applied for credit through Carvana, and was approved. Next, I entered in all of the information about the van I was trading for the Pathfinder. (Beware -- the trade-in amount is only good for 7 days, and it can change wildly in that time!) I was pleased with the trade amount, and it was great that I could shop for my new car and see my down payment and monthly payment for every car I viewed! My specifications were pretty clear -- AWD, less than 10,000 miles, and never a rental car. I found my dream car a few days later, and started the purchase process. It was quite smooth and the directions were very clear about what documents need to be uploaded. When I went to click on "finalize purchase" (or something like that), a red flag popped up...my trade-in value expired WHILE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING OUT! I got on chat with Carvana staff right away, and they were able to return the trade in value to NEARLY what it was before the expiration. This is something that needs to be addressed by Carvana -- once a customer is to a certain point in the process, those numbers need to be frozen. So we set a delivery time, and the Carvana rep was pretty much on time considering he was traveling 70 miles or so from the Chicago office. Everything was smooth -- signed a couple more papers, took my Pathfinder for a spin, Eric inspected my trade, and I left within 30 minutes with my new car. I would also like to add that I drove directly to my mechanic, so he could inspect the car and make sure I wasn't buying something with hidden damage. I worked with Mark Newman and several other members of his team at Garber CDJR at the start of the new year getting a great lease on a new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 and getting the vehicle, lease paperwork and documentation and vehicle delivery and keys handoff complete in a record 48x hours (I was traveling and in between homes and cities at the time and had a very tight time frame in which to close the deal or I would have been returning to my second home empty handed). I had very specific Jeep GC Overland model requests (specific engine type, exterior and interior color, interior and exterior features etc.) with the most difficult being that of a specific engine type (the 5.7L V8 Hemi, which I HIGHLY recommend, the engine note tuning alone is worth the price of admission) and Mark not only located my exact model preference and needs at a partner dealer in southern Michigan but also negotiated a quick delivery and pickup of my vehicle as well as having to arrange an 11th hour search and secure mission after the first partner dealer trade fell through. All of this was done with excellent communication, professionalism, speed and the stellar "Midwestern work ethic" that I'm always searching for in my own industry and that I'm proud to say I was born and raised with. Mark and his team also were very sensitive to and understanding and accommodating of my financial needs and concerns, me being a twenty something first time (ever, total newbie) car buyer/lessee and without all of the previously mentioned and their financial situation understanding in particular I know I would have been hard pressed to secure my new Jeep (a vehicle and model ((the Overland 4x4 specifically)) that'd I'd had my eye on for over 5 years up until I landed mine with Garber. I can't recommend Mark Newman as your principal sales contact enough and the other members of his team were amazing as well, from finance specialists to shop technicians and lot managers. The Garber team is truly stellar, appreciative and welcoming and geared to their fellow community members, hard working, hard charging deal makers and in the end, did something that no other dealership in a 700 mile radius was able to do for me (many dealerships backed out immediately when I told them my tight 1-2x day turnaround time in line with my needs and vehicle choice). I can't say thanks and appreciation enough. Absolutely Go Garber!
