Great car, bad electrics
August 6, 2018
I bought this car brand new, and it's been a great daily driver. However, there have been a few issues with the electrics in the car.
For example, the rear window defroster no longer works, and I have yet to find a fuse for it. I hope I don't have to take it to the dealership to fix that.
If it gets too cold outside, say 20F or lower, the headlights will come on as if the switch is on (when the car is parked and turned off). This made my battery die almost every night, so I had to replace the battery after about 6 months. I recently pulled out the light switch and put it back in, and I haven't experience the issue yet, but it's also been a bit warmer. I've read online that replacing the whole switch fixed the issue for other people.
Again, when it would get too cold, sometimes the wipers would not work at all. To add to it, the wipers are now incredibly slow. Putting them on the fastest setting is slower than my BMW's wipers on low speed.
The engine and drivetrain, however, are very solid. The engine always cranks and runs perfectly. The transmission is very smooth, and never missed a shift. I have an automatic, but I always use the manual shift, and it's as good as it could be. Everything with the engine and drivetrain has been very reliable.
Overall, it's a great car, but the electrics are usually terrible, and it depreciates like it's falling off a cliff.
