Perfect Family Daily Driver

I previously owned this car and it was my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. It was the TDI version, so this is a bit less pertinent since they are no longer offering them in the US, but most of the benefits apply to the 2.0 as well. The main highlights were the great affordable price point, the confident and handling, and incredible reliability. I had this car for just over 2 years and it was never in the shop other than annual oil changes. The interior was just spacious enough to comfortably take 4 adults on a road trip, plus a dog and all the luggage in the back. Surprisingly, it has the most cubic cargo space of any of the VW offerings, including the Touareg. I assume the new Atlas will change that, but it won't be able to match the gas mileage of the wagons. The one con I would point out is that it has a little more road noise than other cars I've owned, but that was partially due to the diesel motor. But overall, my favorite thing about VW is that they include standard safety features that go above and beyond other brands. Things like special welding on the frame that is stronger, backup camera, curtain air bags, things that might be part of a special package or just skimped on with another brand. I also loved the clean and well-designed interior. Some folks don't love the touch screen interface for the media, but I found it intuitive and it never had weird glitches. This was a great car, and I highly recommend it to someone looking for sedan style handling, German design and plenty of passenger and cargo room with great gas mileage.
