I have the TrailSport and I tow a 3000lb camper. Positives: 1. Ruggedness. I have off road tires and steel plate. I don’t plan to rock climb but camping and exploring often comes with bad roads and if your family is with you, this three row is superbly equipped and capable. 2. Comfort. The Trailsport is tuned off road but what a nice cushy ride without a lot of truck-like bounce. Potholes barely disturb it. 3. Layout. Really easy to jump in and drive away. I did not need a two-hour class at the dealership. A good blend of old and new. Not to hard to get into the menu to reset seats and few other things. 4. Towing. I towed 3000lb at 75mph with no problem. It was steady, tracked well and with the trailer brake (added on) it stopped just fine and gas mileage was great at about 13-14mpg loaded up. I was as high as 11,000 feet. It’s really a great all purpose family vehicle to tow the camper or boats. Negatives: 1. Solid black vinyl interior. You only get black and it gets hot as xxxx if it’s in the sun with a window down or door open. You cannot get ventilated seats. Honda, seriously, add another lighter color. 2. You cannot get a bench middle seat which I prefer and is in ALL the other Pilots. 3. Speed. The power is good but it’s geared for off road and towing so really it’s a neutral but it will not take off like lots of others unless you press the pedal pretty hard. It’s not lacking, just takes more pedal travel. Overall, I love it as a good value for the money, well equipped with the 360 cameras I love and tows and does dirt roads well. I would NOT get this model for soccer team suburban duty but if you do real SUV things then it’s hard to beat. I am also not afraid of future expensive repairs being a Honda with a tried and true engine.

Spent the first week of ownership with the car in the shop because of an improperly installed front windshield. Gaps and misalignments are everywhere on this Pilot Sport. Whoever is doing quality control at Honda should be fired. What Honda decided to include and exclude boggles my mind… safety sweet of cameras to nanny my driving? Check.. heated side mirrors so I can see what’s behind me in the winter? NOPE! I am 6 feet tall and weigh 260 and find I cannot sit in the driver’s seat for more than an hour before my lower back hurts. The paint quality is so lacking if you lightly graze the vehicle it will scratch. For it being a “traditional” transmission it is very jerky and feels flat footed from a stop. To add insult to injury we are averaging 17mpg in mostly city driving. Cannot recommend this vehicle.
