Do not buy this car!
Do not buy this car!! If your fob fails you have zero, may I repeat, ZERO options. All you can do is unlock the driver’s side door. You cannot open the trunk. You have to manually open all other doors. Yes, you can get a new fob most non-dealer lock Smith’s won’t touch it because the entire freaking dash has to be disassembled to access the device needed to reprogram. The absolute dumbest, most short-sighted engineering I ever experienced in 43 years of car ownership. - Purchased a Used car

Most Reliable Car I Have Owned
After over 78000 miles, nothing but regular maintenance. Trip from Atlanta to Ohio, 40 mpg. In town mileage 31-32 mpg. Had a 2014 and it was a great car as well. Paid $16,999 on sale in 2017 on Passat S. Best car in 55 years of driving. - Purchased a New car

Best purchase ever
Was originally looking for a 2015 Passat diesel. Found a 2017 Passat Sel with 14000 certified miles. Love the elegant look of the big sedan. Front and rear seating is almost limousine like. The ride is excellent. The handling is pretty good too. Pick up from the 1.8 litter 4 is more than adequate. My gas mileage around town is anywhere from 25 on the low end to about 29 when I really watch it. On the expressway it's amazing. I have a brother in Wisconsin and the drive is about 95 miles. I have never averaged less than 40 and as high as 43.4 mpg. I guess I don't need a diesel. Own it 3 years now and I'd recommend one to anyone looking for a great ride with looks and great gas milage to boot. If I have one complaint it would be the touch radio and infotainment center. It is very touchy and doesn't work half the time. It just gets stuck on the last station you were on. It should be recalled as I have read that others also have this issue. Other than that I love my Passat. - Purchased a Used car

Needs new engine by 80,000 miles!
Purchased vehicle new in 2017. From the beginning there were issues. Road noise was always a problem. Wheel sensors consistently went out (which is not a fun thing when travelling on the interstate at high speed). Carpet on the passenger side pulled up within two years. Went through tires even though I ensured they were rotated. Worst of all, vehicle needs a NEW ENGINE at 81,000 miles!!! All maintenance was kept up on. I have a cousin who had this exact same thing happen to her with the same generation of Passat. I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this car. I will be selling my Jetta as well now. Never will I buy a Volkswagen again. - Purchased a New car

Very Happy
Had a 2015 Passat and now this 2017 SE w/Tech and Light Pkg. Had some frontend noise issues, the same on both the 15 and 17. It was expensive to fix at around 80K miles. My only tech problem is that my passenger side mirror stopped going down to display the curb when I back up. Average mileage is around 26 -27 with 75% city, stop and go traffic. I am pleased with that. My biggest complaint is my wife's complaint, the front seats aren't made for long trips. Her part is the Lumbar support, mine would be the lack of seat cushion. Other than those things, I love my Passat. The little tiny 1.8L is never short of power for me. I live in Texas and I don't feel good about pushing the little motor hour after hour much past 70 -75 mph, so I do get passed a lot, but I make up for it at the gas pumps. - Purchased a Used car

The car is great value for the money. Lots of luxury when considering the price. The performance is acceptable and has pep when needed. The car has TONS of room and luggage space.
