I had a 2013 Kia Sorento until about eight months ago when, surprise, the engine died. It's a Kia, what else did you expect? I didn't use the car a lot because I hated it from the moment I reluctantly got it. That's right, I never even wanted this car. The only reason I got it is because I desperately needed a car and it was the only in my price range at the time. Previous owner sold it to me for $12,000. And yes, I bought it used, but when I bought it, it was only about a year old and it had 6,200 miles on it. I took pretty good care of the car after purchasing it. I changed the fluids regularly, I change the brake pads and rotors regularly, I did the necessary maintenance work on it whenever it was needed, as said in the owners manual. And I did it all in my own garage, so I didn't have to be overcharged by any shady mechanics. Whenever a part failed, I went to my local junkyard and bought slightly used parts for my car. I took really good care of it. But then, last year, all the engine parts started to break. Starting with the alternator, then the water pump, the radiator hoses, distributor, timing chain, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, had a head gasket leak, brake master cylinder leaked, misfires, bad spark plugs… all within a couple months. When my engine finally died, I started taking it apart to see what happened. What I found? Bad timing chain (again), bad camshaft, crankshaft, worn out pistons, bad alternator, bad pulleys, etc. It also had several worn suspension parts. All of these parts would have cost me thousands, so I had it towed to my local junkyard instead. Please, for the love of whatever God or Gods you believe in, never buy a Kia or a Hyundai. By the way, fun fact, Kia is actually owned by Hyundai. That's why they are both terrible.

I purchased my 2013 Kia Sorento LX fwd (3.5L V6 engine non GDI) used with 36,000mi. It now has 167,000mi. (mix of city and 1000+mi road trips). It's had very few issues, and it's still running strong. The 3.5 engine seems very durable. I change the oil and use only high quality full synthetic oil and filter. The few minor issues include limited life for front turn signal/head light bulbs, slightly stiff suspension, and easily stained fabric seats. The suspension and steering seem pretty durable as well. I only use Michelin Defender tires, and I've gotten 95,000mi out of them. It's never needed an alignment.

Has been very reliable but with a constant worry what might happen withal the recalls concerning the engin. I have a garage but didn't put it inside for feer of fire. I have had all the recalls done that I have had a notice in the mail. Recently the fuel pump has gone took it to garage immediately and is being repaired. I have looked after this vehicle very good as records with kia dealer in New minas ns and walkers auto Berwick ns.
