Seller’s notes about this car

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present this 1985 Ford Mustang GT. Slip into the pastel-tinted dream of 1980s Miami with this 1985 Ford Mustang GT, a rolling tribute to fast times, neon lights, and V8 thunder. Drenched in an ice-cool blue exterior that looks like it rolled right off Ocean Drive, this Mustang brings the heat with old-school flair and modern collectability.Under the hood? Youve got the real deal - the legendary 5.0L V8 4-barrel engine, snarling with attitude and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that begs you to grab a fistful of gear and let the 80s rip. Whether youre carving up the boulevard or cruising the coastline, this GT delivers that unmistakable Fox-body growl that made it an icon.Inside, its all retro-cool with a gray cloth interior, clean lines, and every creature comfort you need to keep your vibe chill. Air conditioning? Check. Power windows, locks, and steering? All here. A tilt steering wheel and cruise control make this ride as smooth as Don Johnson in a white linen suit.Spin your favorite throwback jams on the AM/FM radio with cassette player, and dont forget to pop the manual sunroof - because nothing says Miami night cruise like a breeze in your hair and Phil Collins on the stereo. This 85 GT isnt just a car - its a time capsule on wheels. So throw on your aviators, cue the synth soundtrack, and make your escape from the ordinary.

What to expect...

What do you get in a fox body? Well you get the legendary reliability of the Windsor V8, you get an intoxicating sound, you get a comfortable interior, and easy to work on platform. You get a car that's fun to drive.. While by today's standards they are slow, they still make gobs of torque, and that makes it fun, the RWD platform is a noodle in convertible trim, and a rattle trap in Hatch trim, but they have held up very well over the years. Things to watch out for are Rear main seal leaks, oil pan gasket leaks, and rust. At this point in time, they have been beaten on, hot-rodded, and tossed around, they didn't have the best build quality from the factory, and panel gaps are a mile wide. These aren't daily drivers any longer, but they make fantastic, cheap entertainment for a bargain price. Fully restored factory fresh examples should get 20k, while a very nice reliable driver quality should fetch no more than 7K. It is important to check strut towers for rust at the seam, if there is any rust, walk away. In convertibles check the windshield and the rear torque boxes, as they tend to tweak, if they are tweaked, it has been beaten or wrecked and rebuilt.. walk away. Low mileage cars should be avoided, all of the factory seals were cork, and dry rot from sitting. However if you find a well maintained, higher mileage car, they are a bargain.. blast... and you should feel confident buying them.. This is not a beginners car, it will put you in a ditch if you aren't careful in anything but dry weather. An important note is the top on convertibles, the mechanism is hydraulic, and expensive, if it doesn't work, walk away.. The top itself is cheap, but very in-depth at re-installation, which can cost 2k for the installation.. if it needs a top, negotiate that into the cost.. a driver with a bad top is a 4-5k dollar car.. don't over pay..

Just like brand new car

This vehicle is almost flawless for a 32 yr old vehicle. Drives and rides like a new one. Very fun, fast, and very dependable.
