Inspect for RUST before buying!
2009 Escape XLT V6, bought 01/2010 w/19K miles, now 175K miles. Anyone considering buying needs to do a thorough undercarriage inspection for rust. Also inspect the tailgate and tailgate window hinges. My Escape has been great, but RUST is BAD. Replaced tailgate window hinges ($170) several years ago. Tailgate above bumper started rusting badly years ago, opening a wide gap at base that I filled with GreatStuff then coated with Evercoat Fibertech. Same for a hole in driver door. Worst rust for 2009 Escape is undercarriage -recommend research that (subframe/shock towers -etc). Front subframe/engine cradle rusts badly -quoted $1,400 to replace. Undercarriage on mine is rusting badly, and I've always flushed the salt out regularly. Beware the rust for this model.
