This is Mike Levine from PickupTrucks.com. We're here at the 2009 State Fair Texas for an up-close first look at Ford's new F series, Super Duty pickups. Let's see all the new features.
Bold has always been a hallmark of heavy duty trucks, and Ford is taking it to a whole new level. Check this out, we've got this new two-bar grill, the biggest Ford blue oval ever on a truck or car and the headlights, they're also the biggest that have ever shown up on a Ford product. But even with all the changes to the exterior that's just the beginning because we've got two brand new engines for 2011. There's a 6.8 liter power stroke diesel engine and a new 6.2 liter gas motor. One of the changes to the F 450 that Ford heard was based on customer feedback that they wanted a higher top speed and better fuel economy. Ford's made frame changes, axle changes, and wheel changes. Those changes save 600 pounds of weight and promise double digit percentage improvements in fuel economy. You can see we're standing next to a very large duly F 450 pickup, it's the largest pickup in the Super Duty lineup. Brand new feature that's key here is a fifth wheel towing prep kit that comes as an option for the truck. You can order it from the factory like that. And then at the dealer you'll be able to get a Ford accessory fifth wheel hitch to plug right into the truck. It's all been engineered and designed with help from Reese. Truck interiors don't get any nicer than Ford's King Ranch package. We see it here in this F 450, but all the Super Duties for 2011 get a brand new information display that has rich graphics and more information than ever before.
