<v Announcer>Cars.com auto review. Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for Cars.com. We're at the Chicago Auto Show, checking out the Dodge Charger, SRT8. This is going to be the top of the line charger you can buy.
It's all new based on the current redesigned Charger. And it's got a 6.4 liter 465 horsepower Hemi V8, propels the car from zero to 60 in under five seconds. And Dodge says this thing will do the quarter mile in the 12 second range. So is there really anything else we need to talk about? Well, I guess there are a few things. The SRT8 gets unique 20 inch alloy wheels. It's also got a cool bumper treatment up here. This kind of glossy black center section here really fuses the grill and the lower air intake to kind of look like one big ole' mouth right there that's waiting to swallow you as the car comes up in the rear view mirror. Hood's got a nice kind of air extractor up here, and 6.4 liter Hemi badges along the raised section in the middle. Inside the SRT8 has heavily bolstered sports seats here with kind of a fabric insert to hold you in during high cornering. There's also a new steering wheel here, which is pretty cool. It's got a flat bottom with a metal and leather wrapped portion to the rim. Dodge says these are the first paddle shifters for the five speed automatic transmission that it's ever had in an SRT vehicle. They're on the backside of the wheel, which is right next to the volume and track changing buttons for the stereo. I'm thinking you're probably gonna mess up the location once or twice and never forget again, which one is which. Other mechanical differences include a performance tuned, adaptive suspension and larger disc brakes with Brembo calipers. Dodge says this car will go on sale sometime this year and pricing hasn't been announced yet, but chances are it's going to start well under $50,000, if the last charger SRT8 is any indication. So, for that sort of money, with this kind of power, I think the only real competition's going to be your wife's better sensibilities. <v Announcer>For more car related news, go to Cars.com or our blog, Kicking Tires.net.
