(upbeat instrumental music) <v Narrator>Cars.com Auto Reviews. Hi. I'm David Thomas with Cars.c
om And I've driven a lot of fast cars over the years, and many believe it or not with over 500 horsepower, but none, and I mean none, are as fast as this 2012 Nissan GT-R. (upbeat electronic music) There's actually some appearance changes to the front and rear that may seem cosmetic, but they're actually functional. On the front, these air inlets are actually bigger. That's to get more air through the turbos under the hood. There's also new led lights on the front. Every car has to have led lights these days. Now believe it or not, the GT-R wasn't as good as it could be. So for 2012, it gets actually more power, 45 more horsepower. So the top number now is 530 horsepower. Some reason Nissan felt it had to get over 500, but it's really fast. It will get to 60 under four seconds. (upbeat rock music) Now a lot of times when you get into a car with this much power, it's hard to translate all of it to the road. That's not a problem with the GT-R. With all-wheel drive, all four wheels are moving this car really fast. It has a six feet dual clutch transmission, which you can leave it on Automatic mode when you're just driving around town. But of course, you're gonna want to shift it yourself, using these paddles here. And of course, when you shift from first to second, you'll get almost a G if you're accelerating hard, which will push you back into the seat really severely. (car revving) One of the things I've noticed living in this car day to day is that when it downshifts automatically, when you're in bumper to bumper traffic, it makes a loud clunking sound from the back because that's where the transmission actually is. I also think people on the road don't think I know how to drive. If you don't think all the performance is worth $100,000 for a Nissan, the interior is really nice too. It's also practical. You can even fit kids in the back seat. And the trunk is really large. We've talked about unique cars, you have to mention the GT-R. There is nothing else like it on the road. There's certainly nothing like it for under $100,000. There's no way you can get that speed for that kind of money anywhere. <v Narrator>For more car related news, go to Cars.com or our blog, KickingTires.net
