I'm Mark Williams for pickup trucks.com, and we're here in Detroit where we've seen the star of the show, the all new 2015 Ford F150, tons of revolutionary technology here, but even more details to talk about so let's get started.
As far as design what's revolutionary about this truck, all aluminum body panels. That's never been done in this truck segment before, beyond that some more subtle design changes except for in the grill, completely different look on all the trim levels that they offer. Notice the chamfered corners here for each one of the grills, and whether you get a Chrome or a sport trim package, will determine what kind of three bar setup or multi bar setup you get in the F150. As far as powertrains, go two Eco Boost engines and two naturally aspirated engines, a 2.7, all new composite graphite block Eco Boost engine. So a small V6, and then they're going to carry over the 3.5 liter Eco Boost engine, but they might upgrade the horsepower and torque numbers. On the naturally aspirated side, a new 3.5 liter V6 will be the base engine and the five liter V8 will continue. No more 6.2 liter V8. As to the frame and the structure of the truck. All brand new, a much wider center section allows there to be more interior space for passengers. Also the tensile strengths with a high strength steel they use is similar to a lot of the heavy duty trucks that are out there on the market. Right now, as far as cab configurations, we still have regular cab super cab and super crew. The super cab though has been modified just a little bit to have that rear door open 170 degrees. So you can stuff in a bunch of cargo into the rear seat area, new seats, new center stack, new gauge cluster, which includes an eight inch information center. The largest in the industry. Also new on 2015, F-150 the box side step on the short bed. It's already been available on the two other bed lengths, but this is the first time on the short bed. As far as suspensions, conventional rear suspension with leaf Springs and a live axle, but they've done a lot on ride quality and weight savings in the bed two touch remote off the key fob tailgate drops so you can drop your tailgate without ever touching the rear of the pickup truck. Also very unique, special tie-down cleats inside that you can remove and a push button light that you can manually operate, whether you're wearing gloves or no matter what the weather is. So that's it for the 2015 Ford F-150 this is the truck that's getting a ton of attention from everybody at the show this year. Ford hasn't told us exactly when it goes on sale, but we expect that the late 2014 and they haven't given us exact pricing yet, but we fully expect to lay right on top of 2014 pricing. But if you want all the details on this truck, make sure to go to pickup trucks.com. [Engine Revving]
