(car engine revving) Distracted drivers are a bad thing, but distracted kids are a very good thing. Especially, if you're a parent on a road trip and Chrysler is gonna try to help you out with that.
With its new Uconnect theater system available in the all-new Pacifica minivan. This thing has apps for playing the license plate game, tic-tac-toe, solitaire, Sudoku. Anything to keep your kids from screaming, "Are we there yet?" Oh, and there's an app for that too. Now, Uconnect theater gives you two 10.1 inch screens here. They fold up from the back of the front seats important here because that doesn't encourage theft, when you're parked. You can display different content on them separately left and right, from a Blu-ray player to anything in HDMI or USB port is plugged into. There are also apps that come with this system. A lot of games here, your kids can play Hanging Fruit, which is like Hangman, a tic-tac-toe, a license plate game. They could even play checkers against each other with the left and the right ones going side by side. If they want to know if we're there yet, there's this screen here that actually shows them with the van going from the left all the way to the right, how close you are to your destination provided that you put it into the navigation system. It's pretty cool. Now, importantly for parents the Uconnect theater system actually doesn't incur any charges in terms of data or subscription plans to use those apps continually. So, that's nice to know upfront. Also, you can see what your kids are viewing while the car is moving. Now you only get a snapshot of it. It doesn't show you a live image of what's going on, cause that would maybe be a distraction for drivers, but it shows you what they're seeing and you can turn it off. So, if your 12 year old suddenly starts watching Die Hard on Blu-ray well, you can stop them. Also of interest to parents is a KeySense system. Now, if you have a teen driver, you're going to want to know this. Basically, what it allows you to do is to maximize the chime volume of all the warning systems and to keep them on. So, your teen can't turn any of the safety systems off. It also allows you to set a maximum speed that the car will electronically limit itself at 65 to 85 miles an hour, depending what you set it at. This car unfortunately does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. That's all going to come into the next generation of Uconnect, which will come after the system Chrysler sets. Now, as for this minivan itself, it goes on sale around mid-year 2016. (trunk slams)
