(engine starting) With it's updated Fusion, Ford is taking a popular family sedan and bringing it to places that few families sedans go.
Things like a new platinum trim level with a leather wrap dashboard and a newly available turbo V6 with 325 horsepower. You heard that right. Now the visual changes for the Fusion are subtle. This certainly looks like the current generation car, which is a pretty good looking sedan to start with. Things like horizontal fog lights here, replaced circular ones. A little bit of differentiation here in the lower bumper. You get around the back, there's a little bit more horizontal silver elements going on with the tail lights. They kind of pop a little more now, too. Overall, not too bad of a job here. Big changes inside focus on the multimedia system. Ford's available SYNC 3 system now replaces My Ford touch and its quadrants. It's much simpler here. You can pinch to zoom the map here on the navigation system and kind of swipe to scroll around, much more smartphone like there, as well as with the menu structure. Now in this platinum version of the car, you get things like quilted leather. You get real leather along the dashboard and along the doors. Very rare that you'd find that in anything short of a bonafide luxury car. So interesting to see kind of Ford go that direction. There are physical buttons here instead of the touch sensitive areas for my Ford touch along the center stack. Ford actually brought those in last year, but still obviously a big improvement over what used to be in the Fusion. Now that 325 horsepower comes courtesy of a turbo V6. We've driven it in a few other Ford models and it hauls. No reason to think it wouldn't turn this car into a sleeper sports sedan as well as potentially a sleeper luxury sedan with this platinum model. Stay tuned for more. New fusion goes on sale this summer. (trunk slams)
