PickupTrucks.com was on the scene at the 2015 State Fair of Texas when the 2017 Ford Super Duty made its world premiere. Maybe the most interesting thing about this truck is that the body is all-aluminum - but that's not all.
(upbeat music) <v Host>We're here at the 2015 State Fair of Texas, where Ford has just given us a world premier of the 2017 Super Duty.
Maybe the most interesting detail about this new truck is that the body is all aluminum, just like the smaller F-150, but that's not all that's interesting about this truck. When people think aluminum body, they're thinking maybe weight savings for fuel economy, but that's not the way Super Duty engineers think. They'd put a lot of that weight savings back into this truck. Now, the truck does weigh less by about 350 pounds, old version to new version. But a lot of that weight savings going to aluminum has been put right back into the frame, heavier duty and stronger frame, heavier duty and stronger axles and bigger transfer cases for four wheel drives and also bigger brakes to stop these big trucks and any trailer they might be towing. The new aluminum beds on Super Duty's are also very similar to the F-150 pickup truck. It's got a uniquely contoured aluminum body. The tailgate is specifically designed to be more aerodynamic. It also allows you with the key fob to lock it and unlock it, and even hit a button that releases the tailgate altogether. Inside also get the box link. You also get some LED lighting and now part of a seven camera package that you can get on these Super Duty's offered on no other pickup truck around. You can get the CHMSL camera that allows you to hook up a fifth wheel or a gooseneck much easier than you would otherwise. Inside, a huge improvement from the previous generation Super Duty. In fact, it looks a lot more like a high trim level F-150 and that's a very good thing. Big eight inch screen, camera settings here for the seven camera package that you can get. You can also get just like the F-150, a huge moonroof and sunroof that opens up and also dual glove boxes that are exclusive just to Super Duty, but it also has a flat rear floor for better cargo carrying, in back underneath both the SuperCab and the SuperCrew. So those are just the highlights of the 2017 Super Duty. There's plenty to learn about this new truck and we can't wait to get our hands on one, but it looks like this vehicle isn't going to go on sale until maybe the fall of 2016. And we won't know pricing until closer to that date. For more information about this pickup truck or any other pickup trucks sold in the US, go to pickuptrucks.com. (vehicle revving)
