Ford has redesigned its Ranger midsize pickup truck for the 2024 model year. And it also has a brand new Raptor high-performance version.
This is our first chance to see the Ranger Raptor, and here are some of the key ways it differs from the regular Ranger pickup. So if you're familiar with the F-150 Raptor, a lot of the design cues on the Ranger Raptor are gonna be familiar, starting with the Ford-script grille in front. And as you move around to the side, you can see that it's got the bulging fender flares that the F-150 Raptor also has. This model has beadlock-capable wheels, which you can get as well, and they're 17 inches. And mounted on them are these BFGoodrich KO3 off-road tires. You get specific running boards here, similar treatment like the F150 Raptor with this graphics package. As you move around to the rear, dual exhaust exits are right below the rear bumper. The Ranger Raptor also gets a lot of mechanical changes that separate it from the regular Ranger, including its engine. It's a three-liter turbocharged V6 that's rated at 405 horsepower and 430 pounds-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition to that, there are a bunch of suspension changes too. It has 2 1/2-inch FOX active shock absorbers and also a different Watt's-link-style rear suspension that offers better cornering capability and more suspension travel than the traditional leaf springs found on the regular Ranger. The Ranger Raptor's interior gets some trim and feature changes. There's a suede-style material on the dashboard, also kind of a honeycomb trim pattern right below it, a lot of orange accents. You can see it on the dash, on the seats, on the steering wheel. The seats in front are unique as well. They have bigger side bolstering to kinda keep you situated during performance driving. And the steering wheel has a lot of differences as well. There's shift pedals on it that you don't see on the regular Ranger, also a center line marking at the top of it and a number of buttons to control different elements of the truck, from steering to suspension to the active exhaust system that it has. The starting price for the Ranger Raptor is just under $57,000, and it joins the lineup later this summer.
