We're here at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show with the refreshed 2024 Hyundai Elantra. If it doesn't look all that new to you, that's all right. We had to essentially take a magnifying glass to figure out what was changed and what was revised.
Here's what we found out. You'll find the most significant revisions on the exterior of the car, specifically really in the front fascia area of the Elantra. The headlights are thinner, a little bit more aggressive, and I really do like how they are connected by a stainless steel trim right here, which complements the larger stainless steel Hyundai badge up front. It is really tricky to see. I mean, there are some revised areas to the lower portion of the front fascia. There's some revised on the exterior intakes over here. Though this is the hybrid model, so those are kind of blocked off. It all kind of works well. It's subtle, but it looks good. What also works good is the new 15, 16, 17, and 18 inch wheel designs depending on trim. Changes are even subtler around back where basically the only thing that's updated is the lower portion of the rear bumper. It's a little bit larger plastic opening down here. There's some silver contrasting trim, and other than that, we've got another stainless steel Hyundai badge right there. The theme continues with just real minor updates on the interior. So minor, in fact, the only two updates worth talking about are extra soft touch materials for the door cards and two USB-C charge ports for the rear passengers. Everything else is just where you left it. I mean, at least on this hybrid limited trim, you've got two large displays here, one for the center console with infotainment controls, and one for the digital gauge cluster. There's heated and cooled seats and you know, auto hold. Nice stuff. Surprise, surprise, no notable changes for the Elantra's powertrains either. This means lower trim levels have the same two liter naturally aspirated four cylinder and CVT with 147 horsepower and 132 pound feet of torque. The optional engine is, once again, the familiar 1.6 liter turbocharge four cylinder backed by a dry seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with 201 horsepower and 195 pound feet of torque. The popular hybrid returns as well with a 1.6 liter four cylinder and six-speed dual-clutch transmission that returns a very impressive 51 MPG city, 58 MPG highway and 54 MPG combined. Really minor stuff for the new model year, but we already really like the little Elantra. So you know, more is always better. Speaking of more, the pricing is a little bit changed for 2024. The basis of base Elantra is gonna start at 22,590, whereas the very top trim of the hybrid is gonna top out just over $30,000.
