(soft techno music) of the Cars.com Best Luxury Car award, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, a returning champion.
After we surveyed the luxury landscape again for this year's award, the Escalade's blend of style, quality, technology and capability, made its reigning superiority clear. The showpiece of the Escalade's cabin are three standard OLED screens, which together measure 38 inches diagonally and stretch across the driver's half of the dashboard. The Escalade's standard, augmented reality navigation and available night vision systems, both use the instrument cluster screen. Yes, some of this eye-popping tech debuted first from European rivals, but the Escalade's user interface is vastly superior. An available super cruise enables hands-free driving on some 200,000 miles of roadways. The screen technology is just one aspect of the Escalade's impressive interior, which is beautifully wrapped in leather and wood when you choose the platinum trim level. The Escalade is even bigger than its predecessor, and Cadillac put the extra size to good use by increasing passenger space and comfort, particularly in the third row. All Escalades have seating for eight and choosing the extended-length ESV version significantly increases cargo room behind the third row. The luxury focus doesn't mean the Escalade can't handle traditional full-size SUV tasks, like hauling a family or towing a trailer up to 8,200 pounds with the standard 6.2 liter V8 engine and towing package, or 8,100 pounds with the available turbo diesel six cylinder. While the current Escalade isn't as in your face as some of its predecessors, it's a better vehicle overall and the best iteration of the nameplate yet. It's the ultimate Cadillac, the ultimate full-size luxury SUV, and thanks in large part to its user-friendly approach to technology, it's the Cars.com Best Luxury Car of 2022.
