Now conventional wisdom will tell you that when you pay more, you get more. But Porsche likes to flip that on its head and with the 2018, 911 Carrera T you pay more to actually get less.
Now, there are a few visual characteristics that will distinguish the 911 Carrera T from the standard 911 Carrera. That includes the unique front splitter and that's part of the sports suspension not available in the 911 Carrera that actually rides 10 millimeters lower. There are also unique, 20 inch Titan gray wheels and a gate gray accent. Those are different grays and that's on the badging, on the side mirrors, and on the back here with the Porsche and 911 Carrera T badges as well. Now, this also comes with a standard sport exhaust system with black tips shown here. There are also a few weight saving changes on the interior as well. You don't get actual door handles. You get these pull straps, which save a little bit of weight, and there's also less sound installation. And the rear side windows in the rear glass is also a thinner glass, which makes it noisier in the cabin, but also saves weight. Now, this car also comes with a $5,200 bucket seat option, and these seats are super thin. They have carbon fiber in them. You also get a rear seat delete which lower seating capacity to two. Now, the 911 Carrera T actually has the exact same powertrain as the 911 Carrera 370 horsepower turbo charged, six cylinder, and the same transmission options as well. But what makes it better are the mechanical differences to the steering and they'll improve handling and make the whole experience a little bit sharper. Now all of this work on weight savings garners you 11 pounds. So about the size of a large baby. And for that, you will pay $11,000 more. So about a thousand dollars more per pound. We'll have to wait until we get behind the wheel and see if these changes really take effect. The 2018 Career T is available to order now, and we'll start shipping in March.
