The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is entering the new model year with a new infotainment system and revised pricing as the automaker attempts to keep the popular compact SUV competitive in a crowded class of rivals.

On the outside, hybrid and Prime plug-in hybrid models get a slightly reworked front end to differentiate them more among the RAV4 family. The RAV4 Hybrid also gets the Woodland Edition that was introduced on the gas-only RAV4 for 2022 and adds bronze-colored accents to the wheels, a TRD suspension kit, a roof rack and floormats that have the Woodland logo on them.

The bulk of the updates are found inside the RAV4, however, with 2023 models getting a fresh infotainment system. Standard is an 8-inch multimedia system, with a 10.5-inch display optional; relatedly, the gauge cluster has been redone, too, with a 7-inch system standard and a 12.3-inch display optional. The new screens are capable of receiving over-the-air updates and support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the hood comes a trio of engines. Standard gas-only RAV4s are powered by a 203-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine; the RAV4 Hybrid gets a 176-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s mated to two electric motors for a combined system output of 219 hp; and the RAV4 Prime uses a 177-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s mated to three electric motors for a combined system output of 302 hp. Front-wheel drive is standard on the gas RAV4, with all-wheel drive optional; the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime get AWD standard. An eight-speed automatic transmission is used on standard RAV4 models, while the hybrid and RAV4 Prime models get a continuously variable automatic.
