Hyundai Adds Attitude to 2022 Tucson With New XRT Trim

With so many compact SUVs crowding the field, it’s tough to differentiate among them. To that end, Hyundai is adding some visual attitude to its 2022 Tucson with a new XRT trim, which follows a similar move for the larger Santa Fe. The appearance package adds rugged exterior styling bits, but despite Hyundai touting its “go-anywhere attitude,” the package doesn’t translate to any added off-road capabilities — though it does add roof rails and a tow hitch for extra utility.

The new XRT builds off the SEL trim with the Convenience Package. It adds model-exclusive styling cues such as front and rear detailing, more prominent side cladding, dark window frames, approach lighting, black monochrome side mirrors, the aforementioned roof rails and tow hitch, and black 19-inch alloy wheels with a rugged design. Inside, the XRT has a black cloth trim with a black headliner.
Hyundai redesigned the Tucson for 2022, and it comes in gas-only, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid models with front- or all-wheel drive — but the XRT is available only on gas-only versions (AWD is an option).. It starts at $32,625 with FWD or $34,125 with AWD (all prices include the $1,225 destination fee). A 2022 Tucson SEL with the Convenience Package, a tow hitch and roof rails runs at $31,240 with FWD or $32,740 with AWD, effectively making the XRT’s appearance differences a $1,385 upgrade over a similarly equipped example.
The 2022 Tucson XRT is on sale now.
