10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Honda CR-V Recall Leaves Subaru Outback Behind

The importance of federal safety recalls on cars can’t be overstated. Those letters you get in the mail when the National Highway Safety Administration is recalling a vehicle you own could be a matter of life and death if not taken seriously. So even when a recall as small — tiny, even, as in the case of a recent one for a grand total of 134 model-year 2019 Honda CR-V SUVs — we feel a sense of duty to help spread the word to motorists who may well have missed or inadvisably ignored that important envelope in their mailbox. That said, when that, um, petite recall alert becomes our most popular story by a massive margin, even we have to chortle a little.

Made all the more ironic by the fact that a recall of the CR-V’s archrival, the 2019 Toyota RAV4, was our No. 1 news article just one week ago— and in similar fashion with many, many thousands more readers checking out the recall than own the actual affected vehicles — all we can say is: With all due respect, ya’ll better go get them cars fixed, or don’t say we didn’t warn ya. For the owners of the CR-Vs affected by this latest action, that means having your local dealer replace your fuel tank (which, of course, will be done for free) due to a bad weld that could result in a fire.

In a distant second place is another perennially popular car in the Subaru Outback wagon — specifically, our comprehensive collection of Cars.com coverage of the 2020 model to catch you up on everything you need to know before you head out to the dealer lot to shop. Rounding out the top five are our weekly roundup of all the Tesla news you need to catch up on at No. 3, our quick-hit rundown of the things we like (and things we’re not overly fond of) in the 2019 Mazda CX-9 at No. 4 and our full breakdown of the price you’ll pay for that mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray you’re planning on ordering at No. 5.

You won’t likely wanna stop there, because the Honda Odyssey minivan, Ford Ranger pickup truck and Honda Civic Hatchback add further excitement to our countdown. Here’s the top 10 news stories Cars.com readers couldn’t get enough of in the past week:
