As is often the cyclical nature of things, it seems everything old is new again, at least in the automotive world. The past year has seen the return of nostalgic nameplates like the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Ranger and Toyota Supra, with a Ford Bronco still promised for 2020. Another blast from the SUV past comes courtesy of Honda, which for 2019 renewed its long-expired Passport — and this week it takes a trip to the No. 1 spot on our 10 most popular articles.

Cars.com reviewer Brian Wong spoke favorably of the 2019 Honda Passport, saying it offers a “solid mix of on- and off-road capability, along with a robust set of safety features, in a spacious package with good passenger and cargo room.” The Passport slots between the CR-V compact crossover and the three-row Pilot SUV, sharing DNA with the latter while kyboshing the third row and nicely differentiating itself from its larger sibling via improvements to the powertrain, cabin and cargo area.

Our expert reviews were particularly popular with readers this week. In addition to the Passport, Joe Wiesenfelder’s review of the 2019 Lexus GX 460 and Fred Meier’s review of the 2019 Hyundai Tucson checked in at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively. Recalls also figured heavily: A recall of nearly 900,000 vehicles under the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles banner ranked second, while our primer for owners of those affected Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep cars came in fourth, and a separate recall of the all-new-for-2019 Ford Ranger pickup truck came in at No. 8. Rounding out the top five was our rundown of highlights (or, perhaps, Ohio-lights) at the 2019 Columbus Auto Show.
