Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-23 GLE450s and GLS450s. The transmission may not downshift in certain conditions, causing the engine to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the transmission control unit software for free to resolve the problem. Owners will be notified April 16, but those with further questions can contact Mercedes-Benz at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
