CARS.COM — The redesigned-for-2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was such a revelation that we named it our Best of 2015 and purchased one. Two years removed from that redesign, we brought one to Georgia to pit it against six of its rivals — some of which didn’t exist when the Benz got its redesign and surely used it as a benchmark.
The C300 came clad in Polar White, with the optional Sport Package that adds AMG body styling including side skirts and a front spoiler. An additional option, the Night Package, blacks out the grille, front air dam, rear valance, side mirrors and window trim. Power for our tester comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 241 horsepower and 273 pounds-feet of torque. All-season tires wrapped around optional 18-inch AMG wheels — also part of the Sport Package — transferred that power to the road.
Does the 2017 C300 have what it takes to remain king of the hill? Is it still competitive two years removed from its last significant update? Stay tuned for the results of our 2017 Luxury Sedan Challenge to find out; meanwhile, check out the gallery above.
