2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport: Sleeker Style, Fewer Seats
If you have a successful three-row family SUV, why not put a two-row mid-size version out next? Honda recently did that with the Passport, a smaller version of the Pilot three-row SUV, and now we’re seeing Volkswagen do the same thing with the 2020 Atlas Cross Sport, debuting at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, which is related to — you guessed it — the Atlas SUV.

The smaller Cross Sport uses the same platform and comes from the same assembly plant as the Atlas; it also has the same width and same wheelbase as its larger sibling. So what makes it different? It’s smaller, for one thing: It’s 2.8 inches shorter than the regular Atlas and its roofline is a couple of inches lower, too. And while the Atlas has three rows of seats, the Cross Sport only has two.
