2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Range on 10-Minute Charge Better Than Expected

Ford claims its upcoming Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV will be able to add up to 61 miles of range from a 10-minute charge at a DC fast-charging station. The automaker boasts that charge time is “faster than you can get a slice of pizza” — a novel way of measuring the passage of time.

The added range — which Ford says is a 14-mile, or 30%, improvement compared with early estimates — came during a round of testing when the Mach-E was plugged into an Electrify America DC fast-charging station. A rear-wheel-drive model with the extended-range battery will add 61 miles of range in those 10 minutes, while an all-wheel-drive model would add 52 miles. According to Ford, both versions can charge their batteries from 10% to 80% percent in 45 minutes while plugged into a DC fast charger.

Models without the extended-range batteries add fewer miles in a 10-minute time period: 46 miles for RWD models and 42 for AWD ones. The 10% to 80% charging time is reduced, however, taking only 38 minutes, according to Ford’s estimates.
