Block Solid: 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Starts Just $250 More Than 2024
Hyundai’s redesign of the three-row Santa Fe SUV for the 2024 model year was not so much a generational change as it was a dimensional one — and we don’t mean it’s bigger (though it is). The daring SUV appears to have been designed in an alternate reality where some fundamental divergence occurred in the mid-2010s. Instead of the Ford Flex dying off in the Santa Fe’s dimension, it became the boxy template for family haulers of all sizes.
The ripples in spacetime from its arrival here having ebbed, the Santa Fe is unchanged for 2025 beyond a new paint color, appropriately called Atlantis Blue. The cost hardly budges, too, with Hyundai increasing the starting price over 2024 by just $250.

Powertrain Specs and MPG
The Santa Fe’s base powertrain remains a 277-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 311 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A hybrid powertrain is available on all but the base SE and off-road-oriented XRT trim levels; it pairs a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor to generate a total of 231 hp and 271 pounds-feet, which it routes through a six-speed automatic.
Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive an additional $1,800 on all trim levels except the XRT, where AWD comes standard. The hybrid powertrain costs just $500 more and is available with FWD or AWD on all but the SE and XRT. With FWD, the gas-only version returns an EPA-estimated 20/29/24 mpg city/highway/combined; AWD drops it to 20/28/23 mpg, while the XRT’s knobbier tires and taller stance result in it being rated at 19/26/22 mpg. The Santa Fe Hybrid is rated at 36/35/36 mpg with FWD and 35/34/34 with AWD.

Safety Features and Trim Levels
Hyundai equips the Santa Fe with a generous list of standard safety features. Included are forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, bicyclist and pedestrian detection; intersection assist that watches for crossing and oncoming traffic during turns; blind spot monitors; rear cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking; adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go; lane departure steering assist; lane-centering steering; a driver attention monitor; front and rear parking sensors; safe exit assist; and a rear-seat reminder.
The SE rides on 18-inch wheels and features LED headlights and taillights, a hands-free power liftgate, heated side mirrors, and keyless entry and start. It’s upholstered in cloth and has manually adjustable front seats, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and satellite radio.
The SEL receives upgraded tech throughout, with a driver-facing camera, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, wireless phone charging and Digital Key 2.0 Premium, which allows owners to use a paired smartphone as the vehicle key. It also adds synthetic leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear-seat climate controls and third-row air vents.
In addition to standard AWD, the XRT rides 1.3 inches higher than the rest of the lineup on 18-inch all-terrain tires. It can tow up to 4,500 pounds — at least 1,000 pounds more than the rest of the lineup — and also features black and dark-chrome exterior trim, a moonroof and navigation.
Luxury features arrive in force with the Limited, which rides on 20-inch wheels and features a dual-pane moonroof, leather seating, power-adjustable front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated second row, ambient lighting, rear window shades, 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and 12-speaker Bose sound system. The Limited also includes automated parking, blind spot cameras, a 360-degree camera system and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Limited can park itself, but the Calligraphy can share the load on the road with Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist 2.0, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering steering for hands-on semi-autonomous highway driving. The Calligraphy rolls on 21-inch wheels and features a unique grille, premium Nappa leather upholstery, a 12-inch head-up display, upgraded driver’s seat, second-row captain’s chairs, second wireless charging pad and rearview camera for a clear view aft even if the driver’s sightline is obstructed by passengers or cargo.
