Ford is expanding three of its previous recalls, including ones from April 2024 and November 2022, adding over 694,200 Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs. The issue involves a fuel injector and may lead to a fire. This is the automaker’s 18th major recall of 2025.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-22 Escapes and model-year 2021-24 Bronco Sports equipped with 1.5-liter three-cylinder engines. A fuel injector may crack and leak fuel inside the engine, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy is currently under development. As an interim repair, dealers will update the engine control software for free. Letters notifying owners will be mailed Aug. 18, and second letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. This recall expands and replaces previous recall numbers 22V-859, 24V187 and 25V165. Owners with further questions may contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S76), the National Traffic Safety Administration vehicle-safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit the NHTSA website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
