Entering its seventh model year, the current-generation BMW Z4 finally delivers on its enthusiast promise by offering a manual transmission. Only available in combination with the more powerful of the Z4’s two available engines, the Edition Handschalter (literally “hand shift” in German) Package also gets a revised suspension tune and M Sport brakes. Otherwise, BMW’s roadster is mostly unchanged for 2025 save for standard heated seats on the base sDrive30i and minor option package updates.

Availability and Pricing

The 2025 BMW Z4 is on sale now. Full pricing (including $1,175 destination charge) is as follows:

  • sDrive30i: $55,675
  • M40i: $68,175

What Are the 2025 BMW Z4’s Trim Levels?

BMW doesn’t build the Z4 in different trim levels, instead offering a diverse menu of stand-alone options and packages. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, you’ll find synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, 10 speakers and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The pricier Z4 M40i adds an adaptive sport suspension, M Sport differential, upgraded brakes and a heated steering wheel.

Standard and Available Safety Features

Standard safety tech on the Z4 is limited but includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Features such as automated parking, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitors with steering assist, and a head-up display are available in packages or as stand-alone options.

What Are the 2025 BMW Z4’s Powertrain Specs and MPG?

The Z4 sDrive30i is powered by a 255-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 295 pounds-feet of torque, routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The eight-speed automatic is also standard on the Z4 M40i — also only available with rear-wheel drive; it boasts a 382-hp, turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 369 pounds-feet of torque. While BMW charges $3,500 for the six-speed manual in the Edition Handschalter Package, the package’s chassis tweaks make it mostly a wash.
