How Much Is the Redesigned 2026 Honda Passport?

Honda’s Passport SUV is wholly redesigned for the 2026 model year, trading the curvaceous modernism of the outgoing generation for a cubist retro look with hints of modern off-road icons like the Toyota 4Runner and Volkswagen’s revived Scout brand. Now, after nearly seven months of teasers and drips of information, the 2026 Passport is arriving at dealerships. With a base price of $46,200 (all prices include $1,450 destination charge), the new five-seat SUV starts $2,350 more than its predecessor.

What Are the 2026 Passport’s Powertrain Specs and MPG?

The 2026 Passport’s engine is also new, though you might not notice from a quick glance at the spec sheets. The V-6 shares 3.5-liter displacement with its predecessor, but it now sports dual overhead cams instead of the old 3.5-liter’s single shafts. Output is up just 5 horsepower, from 280 to 285 hp, while torque remains at 262 pounds-feet but now peaks 300 rpm higher.

Backing up the V-6 is a new 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive with a torque-vectoring rear axle is standard; the system is able to send up to 70% of the torque to the rear axle and up to 100% of that grunt to either rear wheel. Honda says fuel economy for the entry-level Passport RTL lands at 19/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined, an increase of just 1 mpg on the highway from the old V-6 (official EPA ratings are not yet available). With all-terrain tires, the 2026 Passport TrailSports return 18/23/20 mpg.

Safety Features and Trim Levels

The Honda Sensing safety suite is standard on the 2026 Passport and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning, lane departure steering assist, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, road-sign recognition, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors.

The 2026 Passport’s new look may be radical, but its equipment list reads awfully similar to the outgoing SUV’s. Rear-seat passengers will appreciate the new model’s extra 1.3 inches of legroom, per Honda. There’s also a standard 10.2-inch digital instrument panel and larger touchscreen (12.3 inches versus the old Passport’s 8-inch display) for techies, but otherwise, the most notable difference between past and present base variants is the latter’s lack of a standard moonroof and smaller wheels: Whereas the 2025 model rode on 20-inch wheels, the 2026 Passport RTL gets 18s. It also features LED headlights and taillights, a power liftgate, keyless entry and start, and remote start. Leather-trimmed seats are included, as are power-adjustable and heated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging and nine speakers. The new touchscreen infotainment system features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-In and Alexa Built-In.

The standard moonroof reappears on the TrailSport and is a larger panoramic design than the outgoing Passport’s. The TrailSport’s suspension is tuned for off-road capability but does not increase ground clearance. The TrailSport does, however, include a skid plate and matte-gray 18-inch wheels wearing General Grabber all-terrain tires. LED foglights and amber LED daytime running lights encircling the headlights distinguish the TrailSport from the RTL, as do orange recovery hooks. The TrailSport also adds a heated windshield and wipers, as well as synthetic leather with orange stitching and accents.

Whereas the range-topping Passport previously circumvented the TrailSport, retaining the RTL’s on-road bent, for 2026 the Elite trim level builds on the off-road variant. The TrailSport Elite gets black wheels, as well as a 360-degree camera system with off-road views that Honda calls TrailWatch, a hands-free power liftgate, puddle lamps and rain-sensing wipers. It’s the only Passport to offer a brown interior (RTL and TrailSport buyers can choose between black and gray) and adds perforated leather with contrast stitching and piping, ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
