Looks like: The sturdy little SUV decided to loosen up just a little. At least put on a little lipstick.
Drivetrain: 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive
Hits dealerships: Later this year
Subaru’s Forester compact SUV gets a dash of style for 2019 to season its earnest all-wheel-drive practicality. The upgraded vehicle is also a little roomier and now has Subaru’s EyeSight package of safety and driver assistance tech standard on all models.
The 2019 Forester, unveiled at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, also gets a new Sport model with a sportier appearance, but gone is the sportier engine option, the 250-horsepower turbo 2.0-liter. All trim levels now will have a revised and slightly more powerful 182-hp version of the current model’s base 2.5-liter boxer four. In addition to the new Sport, the Forester will carry over base, Premium, Limited and Touring trim levels.
