Having received a face-lift for 2024, the Hyundai Elantra is a little sharper in styling, a little more refined, a little safer and, as we now know, a little bit more expensive. The $22,590 base price is an increase of a mere $525 over the 2023 model.

What’s New?

The redesign tweaked the Elantra’s nose with new lighting and fenders; there’s a new rear end and fresh wheel designs, as well. Inside, Hyundai refined the Elantra with soft-touch door panels and a redesigned instrument cluster. The larger 10.25-inch touchscreen (versus the SE’s 8-inch screen) is now standard from the SEL trim on up, and the Limited boasts synthetic leather upholstery and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

Updates to the safety roster include standard rear side airbags and haptic steering-wheel feedback (it vibrates) for the lane departure, blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert systems. The latter two, plus a 360-degree camera system, are now standard on the Limited.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The Elantra’s powertrain offerings are unchanged from 2023. The SE, SEL and Limited use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 147 horsepower and 132 pounds-feet of torque mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The N Line is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 201 hp and 195 pounds-feet of torque and paired with a seven-speed automatic. The lineup is bookended by the Elantra Hybrid, which pairs a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor for a total of 139 hp and 195 pounds-feet of torque, and the Elantra N, powered by a turbo 2.0-liter whipping up 276 hp and 289 pounds-feet of torque and paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. All Elantras are front-wheel drive.

The Elantra SEL and Limited are rated by the EPA at 31/40/34 mpg city/highway/combined. Official ratings for the rest of the 2024 Elantra lineup haven’t been released, but they aren’t likely to stray far — if at all — from 2023 figures. The Elantra Hybrid reached a high of 53/56/54 mpg, while the Elantra N held the low point with 22/31/25 mpg and the N Line floated in between at 28/36/31 mpg.

Safety Equipment

Hyundai built its reputation by loading up its vehicles with tech and safety features uncommon at their price points, and the 2024 Elantra carries this tradition forward. Standard safety equipment on the SE, SEL, N-Line and N includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert and lane departure steering assist. The Limited upgrades forward collision warning with additional functionality for intersections and the ability to detect cyclists, adaptive cruise control and rear parking sensors. The hybrid’s Blue trim level mirrors the SE, and its Limited parallels the gas-only Limited.

Availability and Pricing

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra goes on sale later in the fall. The automaker hasn’t released pricing for the hybrid or the N yet, but figures for the rest of the line are as follows (all prices include $1,115 destination fee):

  • SE: $22,590
  • SEL: $24,540
  • N Line: $29,430
  • Limited: $28,030
