Polestar, the electric performance car brand from Sweden, has unveiled two vehicles — but until now, interested shoppers had to go online to reserve one. Polestar just announced its first retail partners in the U.S. for its network of Polestar Spaces (that’s fancy language for dealerships) in New York City, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Polestar announced that it will collaborate with established retailer groups, including Manhattan Motorcars, Galpin Motors and Price-Simms Automotive Group; it expects these initial locations to open in the second half of 2020. After that, the automaker said it plans to expand via additional retailers in Boston, Denver, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Florida during the first half of 2021.
Polestar also said it will offer a home-delivery and service program for customers living within 150 miles of a Polestar Space. Vehicles are available for sale and delivery in all 50 states, but those beyond the 150-mile delivery radius should contact their nearest Polestar Space for special arrangements.
Formerly the performance division of Volvo, Polestar has been spun off into its own dedicated brand, with a focus on electrified performance. All of its cars will be fully electric with the exception of its very first: the aptly named Polestar 1, a plug-in hybrid coupe. Its second car, the Polestar 2, is an all-electric sedan.
