What Are the Best Black Friday New-Car Deals for 2020?

The notion of camping out for all the latest Christmas gift absurdities on Black Friday might seem like an unusually strange notion given the state of the world in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped automakers from offering discounts ahead of the year’s end. Post-Thanksgiving incentives are still happening this year — and we’re here to tell you about them.

We’ve already highlighted four model-year 2020 vehicles with significant cash savings for the month of November in the form of the Buick Encore GX, Chevrolet Trax, Ford EcoSport and GMC Acadia. Those incentives still apply, but below are a few more we’ve found since then that may help in your hunt for a new car.

Chevrolet Blazer

• Factory discount: $3,500-$4,000, excluding base trim
• Approximate price after discounts: $29,500-$56,000
• Approximate factory savings: 6-12%, excluding base trim
• Offer ends: Nov. 30

Chevy’s two-row Blazer SUV spent 82 days at the selling dealer through most of October for model-year 2020 examples, well above the 64-day average for all 2020 models. Now through the end of the month, the Bow-Tie brand is offering $3,500 to $4,000 off all trim levels but the base model, called the L, which accounts for only around 1.5% of new Blazer inventory on Cars.com as of this writing. Note, however, that Chevrolet isn’t advertising any discount financing offers in lieu of that.

Many Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram Models

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ mass-market U.S. brands are currently participating in employee pricing discounts for Black Friday. That means modest incentives for most vehicles wearing a Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep or Ram badge — but dig a little deeper and you can find deep discounts on specific trims or with certain equipment (e.g., up to about 15% off the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid’s Limited trim level). Cash discounts vary widely depending on the vehicle, trim level and your location, though all are good through Nov. 30 in the regions we surveyed.

Ford Fusion

• Factory discount: $2,500-$3,000
• Approximate price after discounts: $21,500-$36,000
• Approximate factory savings: 7-12%
• Offer ends: Jan. 4

Like FCA, Ford has a variety of discounts going for select models as part of its Built for the Holidays sales offer. Many are strictly limited by trim or even packages and accessories, but if you’re in the market for a family sedan, look no further than the Fusion, which is currently in its final model year as Ford, er, focuses on SUVs, trucks and all things Mustang. Now through the beginning of the new year, Ford is offering $2,500 to $3,000 cash off all trim levels of the Fusion, depending on region. Beyond that, bonuses abound: Many regions also offer $500 on Fusion inventory that’s been sitting at dealer lots for especially long, and if you currently own a car you’re willing to trade in, Ford will provide an additional $2,000 off as a “trade assist” in most regions we surveyed; see your dealer for more details. Note that similar discounts exist for the Fusion’s hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, and you can get even more off the plug-in hybrid in many markets if you finance through Ford.

Hyundai Elantra

• Factory discount: $1,500-$2,500
• Approximate price after discounts: $18,000-$25,500
• Approximate factory savings: 6-12%
• Offer ends: Jan. 4

Hyundai’s 2020 model-year Elantra compact sedan sat at dealerships for 94 days through most of October. Now through Jan. 4, shoppers in many markets can save $1,500 to $2,500 off the Elantra. Be sure to read the fine print, however: In markets we surveyed, discounts varied among the Elantra’s six trim levels, from the base SE up to the higher-end Limited and Sport trims. Qualified shoppers willing to finance through Hyundai can also get another $1,000 off in many of the markets we surveyed (which is to say, beyond the amounts tallied above). Alternately, shoppers can get 0% financing for up to 60 months, also through Jan. 4.

How We Look for Black Friday Deals

To look for Black Friday deals, we focused on cash deals available to shoppers at large. Remember, our numbers are current as of publication for the markets we survey (generally Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and New York). They reflect advertised customer discounts, not unadvertised factory-to-dealer cash or deals that require special qualifications, such as financing with the automaker or being a recent college graduate. Discount financing typically requires qualifying credit, too, and incentives may vary by region and trim level; automakers may also change them later in the month. In sum: Your discounts may vary, so check with your local dealer for specifics.
