2020 Chevrolet Trax review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

The Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact SUV that can seat up to five people. It’s powered by a 138-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that drives a six-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel-drive models are available. Competitors include the Kia Soul, Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V

What’s New on the 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

There are no significant changes this year.

What Features in the 2020 Chevrolet Trax Are Most Important?

The standard 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, and 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hot spot (data subscription required after initial trial period) can help you stay connected on the go. A 60/40-split folding backseat and a fold-flat front passenger seat enable the Trax to carry items up to 8 feet long inside the cabin. Available active safety features include blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and lane departure warning.

Should I Buy the 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

The Trax offers good visibility, a tall seating position and rides well, but you must put up with its weak, noisy engine. A lack of advanced safety features on lower trim levels isn’t great, either. The all-new 2021 Trailblazer is another small SUV option within the Chevrolet family.

LOVE this car!

Absolutely LOVE this car! Especially the ratio of length to height. Nice high road visibility from SUV but nice short vehicle length compared to most SUVs make it easy to park and turn.

My Chevy 2020 Trax

I love my 2020 Trax LT. It gets great mileage, and is so comfortable and roomy!!! I would definitely recommend the the Trax to anyone looking for a smaller SUV.

Love my 2020 Trax!

I've driven my 2020 Trax for 1-1/2 years and I am very happy with it! Despite the reviews about "weak engine" and "slow acceleration", I've experienced none of that! My turbo-charged engine gets me out of a jam when I need it to! Love the comfortable driver's seat. Love the Sirius radio and On Star availability. I have plenty of room to haul stuff when I need to. Plus it's so good looking!!
