Ford’s third major recall in less than a month (following one for its Mustang coupe and another for its F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks) has been issued for its most popular vehicle, not to mention one we bought: the F-150 pickup. More than 157,000 trucks are involved.

The affected model-year 2021 F-150s have a front windshield wiper motor that may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail. Windshield wipers that won’t work can reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor for free, and Ford will begin notifying owners April 18. For further questions, call Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22S12), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
