I was in the market for a new pickup and wanted to get a new GMC or Chevy 1500. I checked my local dealers and was surprised to find that inventory is low nationwide. I wanted the new 3.0 diesel and a fairly loaded truck, which made it even more difficult to locate. I told Jay Constantino what I was looking for and he said he would attempt to locate one as close to my wish list as possible. I expanded my search to neighboring states and some of the better known mega dealers. They had more availability, but still not exactly what I was looking for. They also were not discounted as aggressively as you would expect based on their marketing commercials. I checked back with Jay at Taylor's GMC and he informed me they were going to receive one more diesel this model year, and then they would be sold out until 2021s started arriving. I asked him to work up a price all-in, and then send me the build sheet and cost breakdown. I received all the information requested and was pleasantly surprised to see the truck had all the options I wanted, and the price was actually lower than at the mega dealers I contacted. He said I could place a deposit to reserve the truck, which I did. GMC took longer than expected to deliver the truck, but in the end I was glad to have ordered from my local dealer, and not made the 6 to 7 hour drive one way to buy out of state. Delivery was quick and easy, and I was surprised again when Jay informed me that they were giving me 2 free oil changes and also a full tank of fuel. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I can't tell you how many times I have bought a new vehicle and had the dealer say they were only allowed to put 5 gallons in, or something silly like that. It isn't a huge deal, but I always thought it was crazy that a dealer would sell a car and not fill up the tank. Overall, the experience was very straightforward and painless, and I look forward to working with Taylor's AutoMax again in the future.
