Car buying has always ranked up as one of the most unpleasant experiences in life (it's a close second to child birth). Some friends of ours purchased a vehicle from Jim last year and we remember how excited they were to talk about their experience. Fast forward, I was rear-ended and suddenly in need of a new vehicle. I had a Toyota Highlander and knew I wanted an SUV with 3rd row seat, back-up camera and ideally less than 20,000 miles on the car. Not only was the entire experience of purchasing a vehicle night and day to anything I'd ever experienced (Jim, Laura and Geoff have got to be some of the nicest most genuine people I have ever met and are so chill---no pressure whatsoever) but I also found the most perfect vehicle for me: 2017 Nissan Pathfinder with everything I wanted and then some for a price that I could never have imagined to be real. It's been a month and I am still LOVING my car every time I get in it. Thanks Jim, Geoff and Laura!!

Boasted about 5-star - but was anything but
Went to test drive and look at a few used minivans this past weekend. To start with staff was very helpful, the detailer/mechanic helped get us going and did an excellent job. When we started working with Jim he was typical car salesman - up-selling features and promising he'd stand by the vehicle. Vehicles were cleaned up nicely, but it was apparent when test driving that the maintenance wasn't to be trusted. The first vehicle we looked at the sliding door stuck when trying to open. Were told it wasn't an issue and just was locked. Drove the vehicle and felt some wiggle in the steering. Tested the auto-open/close side doors one wasn't working. We decided no big deal, but we'd like a vehicle without these problems. Second vehicle we test drove didn't have as many noticeable issues, but the check engine light was on the whole time. Stopped and restarted and it still was on. Informed Jim and he offered to check it out, but appeared defensive. The light did not come on when we went to check it out, so Jim offered assurances that if it was a problem it would be taken care of. SO far nothing too poor, and he'd stuck by his "reputation" of 5-star service. We got to the point of making an offer on the vehicle and he laughed when we offered BlueBook retail price for the vehicle - saying "we weren't even in the same stratosphere". We were frank in our expectation that dealer retail was more than buying private party and offered him a price higher than private party. I don't see how this merits the treatment he gave in response. At this point he became very rude, unfriendly and actually offensive. Just because he has a vehicle overpriced and was dealing with an informed customer, doesn't give him the right to be rude and offensive. Left feeling like he wasted our time, offered overpriced vehicles we couldn't feel certain would not have mechanical issues if we had bought. Glad we ended up not completing a transaction with him. Definitely not 5-star service if you aren't willing to overpay for a used vehicle.

Great Overall Experience
I want to thank my cousin Jim and his staff for helping me in figuring out my new used car purchase. I thank Jim for letting me take a test drive in the car that I purchase (2016 Toyota Camary SE). Thanks to my cousin Laura in handling all the necessary paperwork for the purchase. I want thank Geoff for answering my questions that I had with the car when Jim and Laura was out of the office and like to thank Paul the detail manager for helping me move my stuff out of my old car into the Toyota. I am glad that I have family members that understand automobiles and if I have any questions about my car, they are there to help me out with them.

Great Place
They where friendly and not pushy at all. The detail on the cars is awesome the cleanest around. Greeted friendly and felt like you where someone instead of a number. Did the bottomline deal also. Thank you for a Great Suv.

Treated like Family.
I had the best experience purchasing a vehicle from Select Auto Jim O'Conner. As a single mother I needed something safe, reliable, and that would get me a few years. I had found a car in my price range but was at work and could not look at it until after work, meanwhile people were showing interest in this car, my mother was there at the time and told Jim that I had expressed interest in wanting to see and test drive the car. Jim ran outside and told his salesman who was in the middle of showing this car to someone that this car was on hold. Jim saved it for me. I went there after work and looked at it, test drove it and was in love. I new this was a good buy for me and my child. I signed paperwork and came back 3 days later to pay for it. Jim made sure it had a good scrub down and was shiney and had a full tank of gas before I had left with it. A few weeks after purchasing the car I had trouble with my Visor and I took it in ( still under my 30 day warranty ) they hunted down for a new one, replaced it and installed it with no questions asked. I am the 4 person in my family to purchase a car from Jim and as usual we are impressed with Jim and his team's on the cars, experience and how the whole time I was treated like Family. Thank you for making my car buying experience such a breeze and stress free. You can bet I will be sending people you're way.

Car Buyer
Saturday Feb 4. I was asked to assist my sister-in-law in looking for a vehicle. She had found a car on line that seemed to fit her needs at Jim O 'Connnor. She had called ahead expressing interest. When we got there the car was in the shop being cleaned up. Laura did a good job filling us in. Was impressed that 4 new tires were on vehicle. Which is always a big worry in used car buying. We were satisfied with the deal we got from Laura, no high pressure sales pitches. Also impressed, that the decision of sale was made at desk, instead of salesperson having to leave and get permission on sale.. Laura was very personable and easy to talk to. Jim and Laura were also very gracious guests for my nephews. Looking for older used vehicles I would recommend Jim O'Connor sales in Oconomowoc. Thank you very much Jeff Poredos

If you are looking for a hassle free no pressure auto shopping experience, Select Auto is the place to shop. The sales personal does not work on commission, so there is no fast talking sales pitch. The mechanic seems like a walking encyclopedia on the inside workings of cars, and the entire office help is friendly. The father-daughter tag team that runs the operation have years of experience and knowledge, and they come across as honest and sincere in trying to help you select the best fit for a future car transaction. All six of our family members have purchased cars from Jim O'Connor with no regrets. We continue to tell our friends to visit Select Auto; many finding just the right car on the lot.
