Bad experience, I purchased a 2010 Lexus LS 460 from them

Bad experience, I purchased a 2010 Lexus LS 460 from them through a friend who is a dealer, the write-up on the vehicle was stellar. Not indicating any mechanical or drivability issues, so we received the car on a dead battery, the lights are turning on by themselves throughout the night and destroying the charge, the two upper control arms wouldn't pass state inspection, there are lights out on the navigational unit, at this point. I'm paying for a car that I cannot use, I paid over the book value on the car and the financial institution wouldn't cover that loan either, to ask top Dollar for a vehicle that is broken is criminal, I do not feel safe or uncomfortable with the purchase and people should use caution if you are considering buying a vehicle here. Completely unsatisfied and this is not the way to operate in business

Boy, has St.

Boy, has St. Charles Motorcars gone downhill - horrible "customer service", absolutely horrible. About 10 years ago I had a wonderful experience when I purchased a Cadillac Allante. The dealership was helpful, informative and reasonable. I have owned well over 50 cars in my lifetime and my experience with the Allante was top notch. Fast forward to 2025. Technically, the shenanigans with the dealer started on Monday, December 30, 2024. On Monday, I called the dealership to inquire about a convertible they have for sale. I have been watching this particular car since August, 2024. Over the course of the past 4-5 months, the dealership lowered the price, multiple times. Come December it was priced that I could no longer ignore the car (there's probably a reason why it hasn't sold - lol) and made a call on 12/30/24 and spoke with a salesman (I have all of their names but I am not going to out them on social media) - I asked details about the car and at the end of the conversation I asked if they could send me a short video on the operation of the top as well as a cold start video. The salesman shared that he would jump right on it - that never happened. I waited until Thursday, 1/2/2025 and called back the dealership. I spoke with a different salesman and requested the videos, again. He shared that he'd jump right on it - that never happened. On Saturday, 1/4/2025, I used the connect with the dealership link provided by Cars.com and inquired about the car. Maybe 10 minutes later, the internet sales department responded to my question and called me. Again, I asked about the videos - the salesman said he was going to film them right away - that never happened. It is now Tuesday, 1/7/25 and if you're following the story this far - nothing, nada, crickets from the dealership. Mind you this is the same dealership I bought a convertible from some 10 years ago. Fast forward to today - it is freezing cold in the Chicago area...I'm guessing not a lot of convertibles are flying off of the lot. At the end of the day, I am just disappointed. I currently own 5 cars so it's not that I need another headache - but I am a car guy. For 10 years I highly recommended St. Charles Motorcars to friends, and I followed them (at times they have a unique collection) - but they have changed. Their customer service is non-existent. Too bad.

There's nothing negative that I can say.

There's nothing negative that I can say. The agent who contacted me was very patient with me and walked me through every detail I needed. He made it so easy and pleasant. My car was delivered far sooner than I expected, and I was very pleased and excited about that. I didn't expect my new car to be flawless, as it's a 2008 model. The car looks absolutely showroom perfect inside and out. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the mechanics or electrical system. I'll know more when my Mercedes mechanic goes over the car, but so far, I don't see this purchase could have been anymore perfect.

Made an appointment to come out and look at the corvette.

Made an appointment to come out and look at the corvette. Was told they would have it all cleaned and ready got out there and the car was still in showroom. I was upset thought I was going to test drive so I left they called the next day to come out and test drive. I called them back and left message that I thought the price was too high knowing that I would have to buy new tires right away never herd back and the car is still there

Look up stereotypes for used car sales and this place

Look up stereotypes for used car sales and this place will be the poster child. Sadly, what started out as a positive experience yesterday ended in horrible business practices today. Stopped in to look at a car yesterday evening. Test drive went well and I requested to have our local mechanic give it a once over. They set the appointment for me to take the car to the shop this morning. As soon as I walk in the door, the sales guy says "hey, we are going to let you take the car for inspection but you have to negotiate the price now before it goes out." [RED FLAG] Then out of nowhere some other guy (manager?) pipes up and says, "Look, we are going to raise the price of the car by $1,000. But, since you are interested we'll honor the current list price without any further negotiation." [HUGE RED FLAG] Like overpaying for cars? Enjoy a good 'bait & switch'? Looking to waste valuable time out of your day? Then look no further than xx Charles Motorcars...at those things they are exceptional.
