Everyone at Midwest Automotive was great!

Everyone at Midwest Automotive was great! They are not pushy about making a sale and let you take your time. I bought the car I have always wanted there and we love it! The buying process was very quick and easy. I would go back to Midwest automotive again in the future.

Dealer response

We really appreciate you coming in to purchase a vehicle from Midwest Automotive Connection. We hope you keep us in mind the next time you are searching for a vehicle.

This dealer will play you.

This dealer will play you. I thought I was pretty savvy dealing with car salespeople, but these guys bested me. I purchased a car from them after a test drive and words of assurance from the salesman (Josh) that he had tested every possible system for safety issues. On the trip home from Cincinnati to Dayton, the radiator ran dry. Before my daughter could find a safe place to stop, the car stopped dead in its tracks with a blown head gasket. Yes, before we ever got the car home, it's value dropped to 10% of the purchase price. Our mechanic said that a radiator pipe was leaking antifreeze, and leaking badly enough that the radiator was emptied in less than 40 miles. I listened to Josh talk about how important it is for him to teach honesty to his kids, and how he would never let an unsafe car leave the lot. The whole while, they had to know that the radiator was leaking. It was leaking badly enough that it ran completely dry in less than 40 miles. This was not just an occasional drip. I have contacted the dealer, but as of right now, I have not heard back. Steer clear of this place!

Dealer response

I understand your frustration. The budget trades that we sell for under 3000 dollars, we just make sure they pass basic safety check. We look them over to make sure they are safe on the road. We did not know of any major coolant leak, as did you when you took the car for a test drive. Obviously it sounds like a coolant hose broke or line on the way home.

Consumer response

Actually, I asked the mechanic that question, and he said that the hose was too loose to have just slipped loose on a drive home. I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. I find it sad that rather than reply to my personal email or show some level of concern and commitment to your customer, you used this public forum to defend yourself and point a finger at me. Truly sad and it points to the priority and ethical stance of your dealership.

Great photos/ car, not so much

Drove over 4 hours to buy a car that looked flawless in photos. Somehow obvious damage on both bumpers didn’t show up in the pictures. Some dealers will show a close up of any damage for full disclosure. Not this one. Hard $500. Lesson for us. (Deposit)

Recently purchased a used Lexus from this dealership....

Recently purchased a used Lexus from this dealership. The beginning of the transaction was smooth and pleasant and John was patient while I was working through my financing. I live 2,000 miles away and did what I thought was a thorough check of the car's history and current condition. The video chat I had with John appeared to show no distinct flaws. I specifically asked John about rust and was told it was clean and nothing alarming stood out during the video chat. I flew into Cincinnati to drive the car home and in preparation for my drive, I purchased 2 new tires to go along side 2 other identical new tires which they had already installed. Two+ hours into my drive home, I had a blowout on one of the tires I purchased. This was quite alarming as might be expected. After installing the donut spare, I drove another 15 minutes to a gas station where I discovered that the remaining 3 tires were inflated to 60psi!!! I called the dealership and asked if I could get a refund on just the one tire that had a blowout. I was told that they would not refund me and that my only option was to drive 2+ hours back to the dealership on a donut that is rated for only 60 miles and then wait for one or two days to get the tire warrantied. As I was on a tight schedule and as it was risky to drive the donut that distance, this was a completely unreasonable request on their part for something that was clearly their fault. I was also shocked to discover additional damage to the car that was not disclosed to me despite my continual asking, such as a hack job fix of the passenger side mirror. That was kept skillfully hidden from me during the video chat. I was also shocked to discover that there was indeed quite a bit of rust on the undercarriage of the vehicle after being told there was not. I understand that there is a degree of responsibility that falls on myself, despite the due diligence I performed prior to the purchase. This, however, rises to a degree of deception and lack of responsibility on their part that is simply not acceptable and which needs to be brought to light for the sake of others who may be considering doing business with this dealership.

Mister

Bought a 2012 Highlander Hybrid from these guys a month ago. Right off the delivery truck the Check Hybrid System warning light was on. Turns out the code indicated a failed heating element in the sealed transmission. The code could not be cleared until the problem was fixed. It was first diagnosed in October, 2018. So the warning light has been on for almost 2 years, this dealer had to have known about it, didn't fix it or disclose the problem to potential buyers, and now I’m looking at a new transmission. Whatever you do, shop somewhere else.

Did not care enough to respond

Contacted a few times about a Ford Ranger. Asked for a few more photos since I was coming from another state. Was told they would send them right over, never received anything after two attempts. Contacted the manager and they said they were waiting on a person's credit to come back and I would have to wait. I first inquired over a week earlier.

Incredible service

I walked in not wanting a large payment with not so good credit, I drove many cars over the course of about 3 hours, John was my salesman and was incredibly patient with my indecision. He pulled about a half a dozen of cars for me before I decided on the one I purchased. The finance Dept was incredibly helpful and I ended up with a much lower rate than I expected. They have a wide selection of vehicles as far as pricing, make and model, I could have left with a Ford Fiesta or a Bentley.. I’d recommend them to anyone.
