Inquired about purchasing a new Prius.

Inquired about purchasing a new Prius. Advertised price was $31,836. I made an appointment to see the car, but before wasting my time, I decided to ask for the out the door price. It came to over $35k! They tacked on nearly $4k in fees, including a "Boulware fee". I canceled my appointment and told them to forget it. I spoke with 2 other dealerships and neither one tacked on these type of fees that I could see. Total rip off!

Looked at a $16k used car.

Looked at a $16k used car. The vehicle had not been cleaned whatsoever. While inspecting it, I asked the salesperson if it had been detailed, and he claimed it had. I tested him just to see the honesty of the dealership. I found A CHERRY STEM IN THE CENTER REAR CONSOLE AND DRINK RING SPOTS IN THE CUPHOLDERS. The leather seats were absolutely dirty and buttons were untouchable. The salespeople were polite and friendly but appear to say anything to secure the sale. Needless to say, I did not buy the vehicle. Dealers need to get their cars prepped for sale and not rush the inventory out the door.

Beware of Peter Boulware Toyota—Unethical Sales Practices

Beware of Peter Boulware Toyota—Unethical Sales Practices & Unsafe Service Department! I have been a loyal customer of Peter Boulware Toyota (West Columbia-Sunset Blvd) for over seven years, but after my most recent experiences, I will never do business with this dealership again. If you’re considering purchasing a used vehicle or getting your car serviced here, I strongly urge you to think twice. I purchased a 2015 Chevy Tahoe for $19,255 from this dealership in October of 2024. Within 48 hours, I experienced issues and immediately contacted them to notify them of a check engine light. After just 28 days, I was told the vehicle was only worth $12,500, meaning I lost $6,755 on a vehicle that should have never been sold in the condition it was in. To make matters worse, when I attempted to return the vehicle, they tried to charge me an additional $3,500 reconditioning fee—even though I doubt they ever properly reconditioned it before selling it to me. After fighting for fairness, I got this fee removed, but the entire situation left me feeling deceived and taken advantage of. I returned this Tahoe to them after 28 days and took a financial loss for my safety. Because I also have a Toyota Camry that has a family plan that is specific to this location, I continued to have my primary vehicle serviced there. Most recently, I took my Camry in for a routine oil change. After leaving the dealership, my car immediately struggled to accelerate and even stalled twice at major intersections, putting my safety at risk. I had to return to the dealership, where they discovered that a vacuum hose was never reconnected after the oil change. This careless mistake placed me in an extremely dangerous situation, and had I not returned quickly, it could have led to serious consequences. When I addressed my concerns with the service manager and service director, I made it clear that I would no longer trust them with my vehicle. The only reason I ever continued servicing my vehicle here was due to the family plan I had when I purchased my car. However, after being repeatedly let down, I will now be taking my business to Fred Anderson Toyota in Charleston, where I know I will receive honest service and proper vehicle maintenance. If you value honesty, transparency, and safety, I highly recommend avoiding Peter Boulware Toyota. Their sales and service teams are friendly when selling you a car but not when standing behind their business practices.

I called to make a service appointment, they wanted the vehicle’s registration number. I told them that it was out in the car, the lady said that she would wait for me. When I got back she had hung up. I’m handicap, so it really upset me that she made me go through all this just to be hung up on. I called back and asked for a manager, after being on hold for six minutes I was told that all of the managers were helping customers and one of them would call me back. Never received a call. They have no idea of what customer service is. They lost my business, I am taking my car to Jim Hudson today.

BEWARE!

BEWARE! Sticker price is NOT sticker price. Went with cash, surprised that they added $8,000 to the “sticker price”. Nope! The manager “knocked off” around $4,000 but told us the extra $3,000 (+, -) was non-negotiable. It was their “Warranty package”. We HAD to purchase it. Ridiculous. The car they tried to sell us had obvious evidence of a wreck. CarFax was clean, which is why we drove 2+ hours to look at this car. Shocked is an understatement when we saw the actual car. How this passed their service department is astounding to us. Dishonest to say the least. We left, went to Henson Toyota about 20 miles away, bought the same car, negotiated, with cash, newer, with less miles, and they were honest, upfront and had integrity.

Completely dishonest about the final price of the car

Completely dishonest about the final price of the car (previously agreed upon). Dishonest about the “boulware benefits” which added $3500 to the cost. Despite saying “no” to warranty options the finance manager added that on to the cost. The finance manager is a slick crook. Former military. Not sure how he sleeps at night. Avoid this stealership.

After receiving several reminders about my appointment to

After receiving several reminders about my appointment to see a specific vehicle, I arrived at the dealership on time. My drive to that particular dealership took 2 hours to get to. After several minutes looking for the key for the vehicle (I might add this vehicle is to this day still being advertised for sale), I was then notified that it was sold the prior week. The salesperson then attempted to sell me a vehicle for much more money.
