Great Experience
We had a great experience from the minute we walked in the door. We did not have an appointment and just had wanted to check out a few models that we had been researching online. Sue provided all the information we needed and had cars brought around for us to test drive quickly. She was available and thorough, but also let us check everything our without being overbearing. My daughter has a hard time with change and needs to be involved in the process to not be stressed when her surroundings change. When we came in for the second appointment with Sue for test drives she engaged not only with us, but with our daughter as well. Brought her into the process and made her feel comfortable. We went to grab our booster seat from the car for the test drive and came back to find Sue on the floor of test car with our daughter showing her all the buttons and features. Ordering the options we wanted was easy and picking up the vehicle was seamless - David was great showing us all the details of our new vehicle and making sure we were all set. Even the financing piece was super quick and painless. Sue even assisted us with turning our Chevrolet lease in at Van Bortel Chevrolet after GM gave us the run around. To top it off, about a week after picking up our new Ascent (which we LOVE) Sue called me to check in - her first question wasn't about the car, it was about our daughter, and how she was handling the change. Sue is a great representative for your dealership - she focuses not on the sale, but the people and their needs. I know where we will be buying our vehicles in the future!

Great experience
Theresa helped me buy my first new car in 2013. She is very knowledgeable, and if not sure on a fact or item, will do her due diligence to get you the correct information in a timely manor. During the 5 years of ownership, Van Bortel stuck by my side with maintenance and warranties with no questions about repairs to be made. They truly put the customer first! I had such a great time and love (van bortel) Subaru so much I had to come back for a 2019. Theresa also helped me with the process, as well as being my advocate when it came to my trade in value. It again was a pleasant and painless purchase!

Excellent experience- very customer service oriented!
I love Van Bortel Subaru! I love than I am a female and have no issues going into a dealership to buy a car. There’s no pressure, no hasseling, no issues. Sue did a great job listening to us and assisting us in figuring out what we were looking for in a car— at a price point we were comfortable with. I have and will continue to recommend them to everyone I know! This was our 6th purchase from Van Bortel. We’ve had a great experience each and every time! Thank you for making it so easy!

very positive experience
Theresa Scott assisted me with a Subaru lease 3 yrs. ago. It was a positive experience. So, this May 2019, I decided to buy a subaru forester. Theresa again assisted me. Very comfortable
When I walked into Van Bortel Subaru, I was only interested in pricing the model I wanted. Sue sat down w me and we talked about the car I wanted and the price range with the different options. As it turned out, I was very comfortable discussing my own options and I was able to buy a new car that day. Sue was genuine without being anxious to sell a car. VanBortel Subaru of Victor and “my car guy” Cody Barkley are a great combination! I have been a VanBortel customer for many years and Cody “inherited” me. He is great, detail-oriented, and is very skilled at customer service. Always a great experience at VanBortel and with Cody as their representative.

Messed up appt made good
Went for a 30 minute oil change. The person who checked the car in gave me a tan ticket and said I was all set. I walked through the door and looked left and right and the girl behind the counter said the waiting room is to the right. I go and get comfortable and an hour goes by and I’m thinking it’s unusual for an oil change to take this long. After 1 1/2 hours I go to the desk and ask why it’s taking so long and the young man tells me my car is not in the computer. He told me I was supposed to check in at the desk. Well, the person who checked my car in did not tell me that. He told me I was all set!!! I was very upset. The young man behind the counter was so patient as I was not. He wanted to reschedule and I couldn’t as I was leaving the country on Monday. His next solution was to give me a rental so I could do my errands and they would get to my car after the tech got back from lunch LOL. I was ok with that. So 2 hours after arriving,I had a car, not mine, and set off to do my errands. It was about 1 1/2 hours after that when I got called my car was ready. While the screw up was up front, the service I received after the error was discovered was top notch. The young man taking care of the situation was as calm as a cucumber and I was not. He was awesome and should be congratulated for making a messed up situation work. This was the first messed up appointment I’ve every had at a Subaru dealer so overall you do do a great job!

Great dealership
I've been going to Van Bortel Subaru for nine years and they've taken great care of my Forester. I've never bought the same car or from the same dealer before, but this place is making me reconsider that.

Van Brotel service review
I paid $25.38 for the air filter that has a MFG list of 22.98. PN 72880ALOOA. The filter was removed and inspected as part of the Pre-paid 60K service contract. I paid an additional $52.80 for removal and installation. Over charged for part and double dipped on labor. NOT GOOD

Great Service Department - Great Sales Help
I bought my first Subaru at Van Bortel in 1998 and had it serviced there regularly. Except for some growing pains early on (minor issues such as long waits for appointments and for paperwork after repairs were completed) when it because the largest Subaru dealer in the U.S., service has always been both competent and efficient . I have never had to take anything back. The buying experience in 1998 was excellent as well. When I bought my second Subaru, VanBortel did not have the car I wanted in stock and it would have taken too long to order one, so I bought from another dealer who had the exact model I wanted just come off the truck. I felt guilty about this, but I still brought the car to Van Bortel for nearly all of its service. (Service at the other dealer under warranty had proven to be disappointing.) More recently, I began a long process of looking for a new car. I typically keep a car for 9 - 10 years and so I spend a great deal of time on research before buying. I worked with Vince Bovenzi who spent all of the time I needed helping me to evaluate the choices and allowing me unlimited time to drive the cars. I have not bought yet, but I plan to do so soon.
