My visit to Toyota was very good. Everyone treated me with respect. Each and every person I dealt with was highly professional and went above and beyond to provide me with everything I needed. Also I got help with installing the Toyota app on my phone and a hands on demonstration on how the car worked.

I took my Toyota vehicle to Joseph as it was close to my
I took my Toyota vehicle to Joseph as it was close to my home. No one at any Toyota dealership knows what is needed at the specific mileage even though Toyota has a punch list for it. This dealership is no different. Hours after the drop off, a service writer contacted me about a "Safety Issue". My tires were bald he said. They were measuring 1/32" (.031")depth he said. I had just driven to Cinti. from Cleveland in heavy rain and experienced no hydroplaning issues. He didn't care, he wanted to sell me OEM replacement tires for $300ea. A quick internet search shows I can get these all day long at any tire shop in the vacinity for ~$260ea. Tires are OEM original 80kmi warranty Firestone's. He offered no prorating for 40kmi of use. I had them finish as is. I got home used my own caliper and measured worst case depth of .160-.200 or about 5-6 x times better than he told me. People were friendly until questioned about obvious contradictions. Laura, the phone person, was fine to talk to but feigned ignorance when questioned about obvious contradictions from the service writers. I talked to no techs and the service writer was unavailable when I picked up the vehicle.

Hi Mr. Loewe. Thank you for sharing, I wanted to provide some additional information to add context here. We do not recommend replacing tires if replacement is not needed. Differences in measurements can occur; however, we stand by the U.S. Department of Transportation's standard: Tires are unsafe to drive at a tread depth less than 2/32nds. We alert customers to decreasing tread depths at 6/32nds so they can plan ahead for tire replacement. Once tires reach 3/32nds, we advise customers to replace tires, regardless of the season. Worn tires pose a greater risk for serious tire issues and potential accidents due to those issues and reduced braking capacity. Depending on the type of new tire, a safe tread level can measure from 10/32nds to 15/32nds. If you choose to purchase your tires elsewhere, that is your choice. We recommend, however, that you replace your vehicle's tires soon. If you have any concerns or questions about what Toyota recommends for future service, please contact me. To add more context Sandra. Granted, I will need tires before winter but, not before asking if I wanted to buy a new set before putting them back on the vehicle during your service. The point is, the tires were near 5/32 or above the number you shared as your alert the customer number, 6/32 (3/16). Unfortunately, your service writer advised me to replace the tires at a price 15% higher than the avg going rate, under the pretense that the existing tires were bald with a tread depth of 1/32", a level 5 or 6 times less than what they actually were or 2 times better than your "advise to replace" number. He obviously recommended replacing the tires when replacement was not needed. He didn't offer to match, or beat any of the neighboring competing tire companies. He didn't offer to pro rate the OEM 80000mi rated tires that he said were bald at 40000mi that were literally driven by a little old lady (75+) until I purchased the car less than 2000mi before. Based on my experience with the last service advisor at Joseph Toyota, I don't think any of your long-time service advisors can be trusted to provide honest answers or proper advice on future service plans.
