Takata airbag recall

Approximately 79,400 Mazda CX-7s, CX-9s and Mazda6s are being recalled 
 as part of the Takata airbag inflator recall.

Mazda has added about 80,000 and a new model year to its list of recalled 
 vehicles to get permanent Takata airbag inflator replacements.

Honda has confirmed that a Takata airbag inflator ruptured in a fatal 
 collision last week in Florida.

Mazda now will install airbag inflators with new type of propellant, which 
 replaces a 2016 recall that made temporary repairs.

Ford is resisting a recall on a different Takata airbag inflator as another 
 death is linked to the type of inflators already recalled.

News of a 12th Takata-related death came amid a recall for a different type 
 of inflator from the ones identified in its massive recall.
 

Airbag inflator manufacturer Takata filed for bankruptcy today, but the 
 sale 
 of assets is not expected to interrupt airbag recall repairs.
