too many problems
Costly to maintain/repairs. Had a major repair at 50,000 miles for oil consumption. Thankfully BMW fixed it at no cost otherwise will cost me $6500 to fix that. Sensors going out to easy.. since is v8 little it's a little rough on the road. Not an off road SUV.

I bought my 2012 with only 13k miles on it in 2013
I currently have 165,000 miles on it and the car is junk. Tons of reliability problems. It is paid off but I might as well have a car payment with all the money I am sinking in it. Going back in the shop tomorrow. I broke down on the highway

Nicest car I ever owned.
Nice size cabin. Has a bunch of “get up and go”. Used mostly in the highway, very sturdy ride, but yet comfortable. I do enjoy driving this car.

Solid drive
The previous owner ran cheap gas in my X5, which resulted in a lot of repair work initially, including a new catalytic converter and other fuel distribution issues as well. However, after cleaning up the fuel system, it runs like a true BMW. Moral? Run quality fuel from Chevron or Shell. Ask your local European auto mechanic for their opinion on the issues to be expected from running sub-quality gas!

My third BMW X5
I love the easy drivability and solid handling of the BMW X5. My last one was a 35d and this one is a 35i and I can tell there is difference in gas mileage and power since I have had it compared to the 35d, but it is still a great buy and will meet all my needs.

Capable performer
This is the second BMW X5 i've owned. The first one was totalled out after a deer hit otherwise I would still be driving it. I have the X50i and it is a very capable high performance vehicle. Fun to drive and performs well in CO winters. Expensive to maintain however.
